Away visiting family. On day 3 now. They're so noisy!

My nieces in particular, screeching obnoxious, chucking things. Blowing party whistle things.

I'm lying low encouraging nice reading.

I have three dc of my own but they're much quieter and basically grown up.

Anybody else?

We’re having the weekend from hell with my mother-in-law and her obese smelly dogs that snore loudly.

I have been fully appraised of all my many faults and failings as a wife/mother/daughter-in-law.

Flowers Gary hope you are ok

I too have chosen to spend all weekend cleaning and decorating rather than any extended family time. I can’t put it off anymore I have to go to DM’s for some god awful dinner tomorrow (she can’t cook, dread to think what it will be - probably sausage rolls and crisps) but she’s lonely and will want to talk at me for a few hours

Have had no lie ins as I put my blinds up the wrong way which lets too much light in and then the street seems to come alive at 9am every day with fucking strimmers

We've just come back from 3 nights away in our motorhome.

This most conveniently meant that we could not go to MIL's family do, where we would have had to endure SILS's appallingly behaved kids. The oldest is ok, the middle one pretty bloody awful, but the youngest is utterly intolerable: constantly shrieking, screaming and generally running amok, and the parents do fuck all about it.

Most annoyingly, she won't leave the dog alone. The poor animal gets under the furniture and wriggles into the furthest corner to get away from her, but the child just wriggles into the corner after here. Despite asking the parents repeatedly to stop her doing it, they can't be arsed.

MIL bloody loves the dog and makes us feel guilty if we don't take her, but if we know that that SIL will be there, we leave DDog at home. Sometimes we get told that they won't be there, only to have them turn up anyway.

They're so bloody noisy that I get a blinding headache within the hour, it's hellish.

Thanks OP, I’m doing ok physically. And I’ve got lovely DH waiting on me hand and foot now we are home, plus 2 small dc to distract me. I can’t imagine how much worse this would feel without them. I’ve got a lot to be grateful for.

I’ve had family visiting me. Luckily they’re going home tomorrow because if my niece (9) whines that she’s bored/everything is boring for another entire fucking day I’m going to lose my shit.

I have 2 of my own kids and they do complain of boredom at times but this is another level. And niece manages to cram about 4 syllables into the word bored Angry and it’s every 5 minutes or less. Kill me now.

I used to hate the MIL get togethers at Easter. Always some sort f contest going on. My ex not matching up to BILs successes or my parenting not matching up to SILs .. MIL gushing over babies, also making me feel like an inept being as I didn’t bake ( I didn’t have time as ex was useless at everything)

So glad I have nothing to do with any of them now.

You're a very thoughtful dil. Do you feel ok physically though? Don't delay getting medical help if you need it because you don't want to upset them.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

PILs are lovely and know that I was pregnant, but they’ve got a house full of other guests staying for the long weekend. They will be upset when they hear what’s happened and I didn’t want them to have to put on a brave face while they are entertaining. We will tell them on Tuesday when everyone is gone.

On my own with box sets and comfort food and it's bliss! Sorry for all those suffering in unpleasant family set ups, and Flowers to you Gary.

This is the quietest Easter ever and I am loving it. Nice dog walks, teens busy revising and appearing every 2 hours which keeps things civil. DH and I are enjoying the weather and wine and preparing food for our little family not the usual hoards. Bliss.

We are camping with some friends but not pitched together. They have rocked up EVERY SINGLE MORNING with their brat before 8:30 because their DC wants to play with my DC (who couldn't care less).

Despite me and DH insisting we are not morning people (holidays are the only time we are not ruled by alarms and I want to enjoy slobbing in my pjs for a bit), and we can meet them around 10 at parks etc.

Day 3 and they still haven't taken the hint.

Gary that's awful. Very sorry to hear that.

Mil snapped at ds3 over dinner. I fear my face may have betrayed my rage that whilst the other grandchildren are ceaselessly indulged, ds3 is not afforded any latitude. He hasn't even done anything, mil just misheard him!

Have spent last twenty minutes sneaking out to the car with stuff so we can leave at 8 tomorrow. Bank holiday traffic dontcha know Wink

My In-laws are all lovely but I’ve had to spend the afternoon round there pretending I’m not having a miscarriage. It’s been pretty grim.

Sorry to derail the thread with my self-pity. I’m just feeling the need to sulk.

We have had an awesome Easter weekend in a caravan at a theme park just the 4 of us. Kids have got on well, amazing rides, park not overcrowded and the weather has been beautiful. I definitely recommend coming away for Easter as we do every year as it makes it so easy to say 'sorry we're away' when invited to anything else!!

I’ve had a blissful two weeks off, no family visits, I didn’t go and see them, just got sent a pass-agg set of party pics on WhatsApp. I dunno if I was meant to be jealous or something? I was just heartily relieved to have avoided it all.

It's my MIL that is doing my head in, not the kids. She has to fill every silence with inane chatter. I move room for peace, and she follows me. She keeps saying she'll stop talking and then starts again. All harmless, but infuriating.

I have spent the day so far washing walls, mopping floors, scrubbing skirting boards, wiping paintwork, cleaning toilets and washing up. I think it says something that I prefer this to the idea of a family Easter! Soon I'm going to cook some dinner and then relax with a glass of something nice.

Were lucky were spending Easter at home just the 7 of us and it's been lovely.

We only came back from our holiday in Cornwall last night but we've still managed to make a 3 course easter meal for us all this afternoon, including a triple layer Easter cake I'd made and we've had our Easter Egg hunt,so I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself right now.
