To think housework never ends?

Seriously, does anyone else feel this way? I feel like all I do is housework and I just can't be bothered.

I have guests coming tomorrow afternoon and can't motivate myself to get my arse in gear Sad

How do you all keep on top of it?

Op the more you're out the house the less there is to do. I found I had the tidiest home when I was never in it Grin

I’ve always wondered how people manage it, you know appear to have a spotless house, kids and work full time without a cleaner. I know quite a few people who do this and their houses go ting when you walk in.

I appear to spend my time battling trying to keep the house clean and tidy. I have 2 toddlers and a husband who are messing up in another part of the house faster than I can tidy!! It stressed me out for quite a while until I realised I just needed to relax and lower my standards. The friends with the show houses are either superhuman or don’t allow their kids and husbands into the house... or they employ 3 cleaners on the sly.

It's relentless and some days I just can't be bothered because it all just starts again the next day.

Food is what gets me. Think about it, buy it, cook it, clear it up ad infinitum forever. Anything I make tastes like dust to me because I am so bored of it by the time we come to eat it. Anything cooked by someone else tasted divine even pesto pasta

I got round to tidying up before my guests come tomorrow, finally Grin

I can only imagine it's going to get worse when DC arrives and is a little bit older!

@Paraballa what app is that please?
I’ve sort of tried TOMM but just can’t seem to stick to it.

OrgNised mum method (TOMM) has changed my life- honestly give it a try - for me the key to it is the 'level one' jobs - so you hoover, make beds, do a load of laundry and give bathroom quick once over (as in two mins while kids getting shoes and coats on to go) and this all takes about 15 minutes , you then have half an hour five days a week of focused areas- it means two days a week hardly any big housework jobs just washing up etc my house is so much tidier

A cleaner (which I have) is great on the day that she's cleaned and the day after, but the house hardly stays pristine for a week in case any visitors come, you still have to do the dishwasher/surfaces/pans/loos/washing/mess every day, that doesn't stop with a once a week cleaner! What is better is that the underlying dirt is dealt with - so the floors get a good mop, the bathroom is properly cleaned, the cutlery drawer cleaned, stuff like that. It doesn't negate the everyday cleaning though, not in a busy family anyway.

Yes cleaner once a week is good but still loads to do food laundry tidying crap. Met a couple on holiday who worked for a famous person you have all heard of. They had nanny per child butler team of cleaners and housekeeper. That would do me.

The secret is to have a huge deal clutter and keep de cluttering as 'stuff' builds up.

Tidy and pick up as you go so you don't ever get to a stage where you need to blitz the house. Don't leave a room and leave a cup that needs putting in the sink/dishwasher, fold washing as it comes off the line/out of the drier. DON'T ironWink

Oh and get big baskets so that can be easily scooped up at the end of the day.

I prob spend about an hour daily on housework. I alternate rooms daily so will do kitchen one day and bathroom another (have two full days off so alternate then) . Living room gets quick brush and mop daily to keep on top of it as front door opens - beds get made and a daily iron of whatever is in ironing basket. While cleaning living room and ironing have an episode of something i want to watch.
Does feel a bit endless but better than leaving it all until one day which have done in the past and ended up grumpy.

I agree with formerbabe, it's so much easier when everyone else cleans up their own crap and doesn't make it harder than it needs to be. I feel like Sisyphus with his fucking boulder some days, except the boulder is pile of dirty laundry and dirty dishes just left everywhere. Wish i could just outsource this shit.

Lower your standards. I clean once a week and don't go mad over washing my clothes. Never do ironing, WTF is the point.

You can't really expect a pristine house and moan at the amount of work that takes. Something's gotta give.

YANBU OP, not at all. I hate it and can't afford a cleaner x

I had a day off work today and blitzed the house. We go away for the week next week. I'm being naive to think the house will stay nice until we get home and I'll have loads of time to pack in a relaxed manner, aren't I?😂
