AIBU?

How to fundraise without pissing off everyone around me?!

All the time on here I see posts about people fundraising and pissing off their friends and family in the process.
Myself and some volunteers want to save our pub from being turned into houses. Currently it's a grotty building with many neighbours complaining about the eyesore and view the community pub as slowing down the inevitable, ie they think it'll be houses regardless and we're delaying that process so I am already facing an uphill struggle with quite a few local naysayers
so AIBU to ask, what fundraising activities you would actually support? What can I do that wont result in an AIBU post about me?!

currently on page 7 of the boring paperwork, just 50 pages in total...In your experience is that much necessary?!
Who really reads that much.
Do we need a full document for all key information and a summary document for people like me, who get bored after one page?

Additionally in terms of 'what we are' it's a 'community benefits society'

Lol if yr bored after 7 pages, this might not be the project for you: you are going to be swimming in it before long ;-) getting a project like this off the ground is very like getting a business set up - except instead of satisfying just the bank to get a loan, you also have to convince multiple different and individual funding bodies... it’s a slog.

Oh I totally get that, luckily my strengths are less on the detail and more on the marketing, hands on.
Easter egg hunt, Facebook page management etc - I'm there. I can do that.
I started the thread as I was wanting to get ideas to put to the group on fundraising that may actually work and be supported, but it's come across loud and clear that for this project to work actually it's the detail, the business plan and a super clear message on accountability etc that people have asked after.
So if those are the questions from posters I need to work out how we address that in our communications but I have to understand what I'm saying so I don't misrepresent the group.
The team have been fighting for 4 years, I joined about 18 months ago and much of our efforts have been around fighting the most recent planning application, campaigning our LA to get the site cleared up and we were pushing for a compulsory purchase - except then the owner accepted an offer we'd put in AGES ago. So now we have an actual accepted offer it's all hands to the deck as he's caught us slightly off guard!
We are asking for a letter of intent so if we raise the money we are 'safe' in terms of the crowdfunding fees etc, what we don't want is to raise money, pay commission to Crowdfunding then have to repay shares because he's pulled out the sale.
I feel a little sick thinking about everything we have to do.

I like the idea of carboot sales on drives and open gardens so I have put these forward to the team, the Packhorse mentioned by a previous poster are doing a wheelbarrow sale, like a car boot but eco! We have a disused church and graveyard we can use or people can use front verges. With any luck whilst not huge money makers will bring people together and give us the opportunity to talk about the pub reopening and get people talking to neighbours they haven't spoken to before.
Really I'll take as much help/ideas and support anyone can throw this way!!

You mentioned large car park and gardens/grounds, could you get the council to put a bottle bank in the car park - useful for the pub and saves on trade waste costs. Also air bnb, what about touring caravans, is there enough space ? Allotment/community garden, if you can do this, you could put a compost bin(s) in for kitchen veggie peelings and some cardboard ( i put a lot of cardboard in my compost). Loads of good advise from people. Sunday morning car wash ? although utilities are probably cut off at present.

Hi @ThePittts The pub did originally have a bottle bank, it was one of the first things to go and hopefully one of the first we can bring back.
We can't get glass recycled with bins so it's a 40 minute round trip to the tip - I look like a raging alcoholic when I do take the bottles!!!

The garden currently has 5 electric hook ups for caravans. I don't know how used this ever was but I think it would cause an issues if you had a play park or room to kick a ball about. I guess we'd need to properly measure and split up the space to see - wouldn't want caravans near to balls!
The allotment/community garden is a lovely idea. Almost opposite is a disused church that was once a beautiful wildflower garden, about 18 months ago a group of us started clearing it up and restoring it, if we could have a patch to start growing plants etc and escape into the warm for a nice fire and a coffee or pint that would be really nice. We also have a war memorial service at this church, a few years back the pub would open after the service so I very much see the restoration as both as important. Technically both are run by separate entities and attract different types of volunteers so as much cross over as possible would be fab for the future
