DS started reception in September. He's an August born, if that makes any difference.
He has PE on a Monday at 9.30. He has come home at least 4 times at 3.25 with his shoes on the wrong feet.
I'm 100% behind him having to dress/undress himself but I'm concerned about his shoes being on the wrong feet for such a length of time, and on so many occasions.
Have found about shoezooz and have printed some off to put into his shoes.
WIBU to mention this and ask that they give him a bit of help?

As a teacher I think you should mention it whether there are more in the same situation or not! There’s no reason why the teacher can’t just check his shoes are on the right feet as he/she walks past or glances under the desk in the next lesson!

It's fine to mention it, so long as it's not an expectation that this is the teacher's job from now on.

Yes mention. The teacher can do a quick shoe check and can tell your DS if he has them on the wrong feet

Oh yeah as a teacher just give her a heads up. I would have no problem checking his shoes. That’s hard to know at just 4!To help you can buy shoe stickers ( I bought mine in dinkleboo) and just put on one foot so he always knows which shoe goes where.
I teach in Ireland and our primary school kids just wear their tracksuit all day pe days ( usually twice a week).

Mention it if it makes you feel better but the best way to teach them and check is to mark the shoes in some way. An arrow, a colour, whatever you need in order to help him.

OpiningGambit Oh gosh no. I'm putting some stickers in his shoes and will teach him how to put them on himself. It's more a "can you just double check for me" kind of request.

Awh poor chap, the circle sticker is good inside the shoe to help.
I have read similar threads many times. I really feel sorry for the Teachers and 28plus 4 year olds. I don't see why they cant wear a tracksuit and trainers on PE day. I didn't get changed for PE until secondary school. My DC have allocated tracksuit days.

Cut the circle in the middle. When he puts his shoes together the stickers should circle.
My DD still uses and always loses her stickers

I think this is a totally reasonable request that no real teacher would object to if you ask it politely and not phrased as a complaint.

I think if you say can you try to check this, if possible, that's fine. If you say "You need to...", that won't be fine, as it isn't the teacher's role to dress him.

Trouble is he is not the only child in the class and there are going to be ALOT of things going on around PE. He needs to ask the teacher to check for him. Of course they will do that but they may not remember without a prompt as there is so much to do with so many children. If he asks he’ll be sort of learning do it it himself too.

Yes, please do ask the teacher. As long as you phrase it as a "Could you...?" rather than "You need to..." it's fine. Be sure to mention that you are working on it at home.

I've asked, just if they notice can they prompt her to swap them over - but mine has dyspraxia anyway so the added clumsy factor of shoes on the wrong feet doesn't help (and I don't think school can afford the Elastoplast bill for any more bumps and scrapes from her!)
We do the stickers and the like too but it's still a blind spot for her.
