AIBU to wonder if people really swear that much?

Went to see A Star Is Born last night. I was surprised and a little disappointed at all the swearing all the way through. I felt most of it was unnecessary. Yes, I get that the main character is a loveable rogue but, seriously, I have never met anyone in any walk of life that feels the need to swear that much. I'd be a bit uncomfortable with my 15 year old daughter hearing the much bad language in 2 hours (even though she assures me she hears it all the time at school).

Maybe it's because I don't swear much, and never around the kids. My dad would be interested to see the film as he enjoyed the older versions. But I think he'd be put off by all the f words. AIBU?

I didn’t notice the swearing as being excessive.

But I do swear a reasonable amount.

Does sound like excessive swearing and I say this as someone who swears a lot!
Wouldn't bother me but I'd note it.

When I say unnecessary, I mean it was just in general conversation, not anyone getting angry or anything. If someone is particularly emotional about something I feel it might be necessary but it was along the likes of "do you fucking want a fucking cup of tea"?

Well swearing is never 'necessary' is it? Many people like swearing and get a kick out of it. What's acceptable will vary wildly.

My office is very, very sweary (Ireland, where it's more acceptable). I really enjoy that aspect of it.

I haven't seen it, couldn't get worked up about swearing in a film though.
