Another laundry question Blush and posting for traffic!

Have you ever managed to get a yellowing/greying item of white clothing back to white and if so, how? I’ve tried vanish in the wash but it barely made a difference.

I've found a hot wash, proper powder not liquid or tabs, a good dose of Ace bleach and a bit of softener to offset any bleachy smell (although Ace is quite neutral).
I think Dylon do a whitening sheet to put in the wash as well. I used to get the Tesco version but they no longer make it.

I always wash my whites on the hottest setting with some asda's Oxy white powder and white vinegar instead of softener. They all stay lovely and white.

Sunshine

My whites tend to get greyish over the winter. They are restored when I line dry the whites over the summer months. 2018 has been a fantastic year for this method.

I find that the wetter the clothes, the better the sunshine seems to work. That means I can use a low spin/no spin setting on the washing machine.

Did you use vanish gold? that stuff works wonders. I use it with every white wash.

Hang your washing outside whatever the temperature (obviously not if it’s raining!). Sunshine is amazing on stains and making your whites properly white again.

Steep in a bucket with hot water and some bleach, leave overnight or for a few hours and wash on a 60 degree wash.

I think powder is better for getting stains out than the liquid or tabs.

How weird i did a white wash yesterday and noticed how most stuff was yellowing in obvious patches and wondering how to get them back to white!

yetanother do you think the oxy and white vinegar would do the trick to restore without hottest setting? Some of the garments have logos/pictures that would be affected by bleach/heat.

Sorry to crash the post OP! Seems we have similar laundry needs Confused

Vanish gold in y'white wash. A good big scoop. Turn it up to 60.

OR the supermarket equivalent which is half the price.

I like Ace bleach for whites - seems to get mine up well.

Throw a red shirt in there. Hot wash..

The whites you didnt wash in that batch will look nice and white in comparison

You're Welcome.

Tru story bro
