I just need a bit of perspective please. Background - I’m very close to my DM and DF. Usually see them once a week and speak to them most days via text/phone. When I see them, I usually go to their house. They smoke inside the house and always have done, since before DB and I were born. Until I moved out around 10 years ago, I didn’t realise just how horrible the smell of stale smoke is. I always choose outfits I can wash straight away and wash my hair later that day. However, I choose to see them there so I completely accept this. They can do whatever they want in their own house.
I’m now pregnant and they now kindly either don’t smoke in the house while I’m there or smoke in a spare bedroom which is never used. I don’t ask them to do this. They do smoke in the house for the rest of the time though.
WIBU to refuse to take the baby there once it’s born? They can visit my house as much as they like (15mins drive away) or meet up elsewhere. Basically, I just don’t want my baby to smell like stale cigarettes. I really don’t want to offend them, though.
