Hello everyone.
Welcome to the People's Republic of Mumsnet. The republic is currently without a government, so we'll need to start getting organised.

I invite you to put yourself forward for any given position, taking care to elaborate on why you consider yourself suitable for the role.

I've currently appointed myself as Republic Designer, a temporary role that expires as soon as a President is elected.

Positions we will need to fill:
President
Vice President
Minister of Culture
Minister of External Affairs
Minister of Women
Minister of Snacks

Feel free to make your case for a role, propose new roles, and explore what other things we may need to put in place to become a well respected republic with international clout.

The kittens are snoozing in the sunshine today. I am a MIL (obviously a great one) and would like to be doing the same but I have been doing housework and washing my rubber gloves. (Yes, really)

Oh, thanks, Fuzzy! If it's a sinister twisted swastika shape, that'll be the missing piece.

Things seem to have gone very quiet in our brave new republic. Are all the kittens napping? And the lions? Even the MILs?

booma Is it this piece? Can't be too sure as I found quite a pile of jigsaw puzzle pieces in the kittens basket.

I have been busy trying to keep the little furry ones amused I need a deputy minister asap.

Oh Rufus all that effort for naught? Bad children! Poke them with a stick with a horse's head handle.
The cats love poetry though. Especially T S Eliot.

Having corralled small children in the past, I'm going to hide behind a pillar for this one. Cats are easier.

On a separate note, does the Minister for Weather also have jurisdiction over comfy warm stoves? We were caught out in a blizzard earlier and not a stove in sight! Nor comfy chairs!

Here I am...cats...THIS WAY

Look kitties, lovely jigsaw puzzles to stomp all over and knock to the floor.

Eaten by a lion? Me? I am not Albert!

Nobody'll mind if I park it in the P&C space, will they?

Youll have to borrow a small child

Is there a minister for the corralling of small children yet

Im not volunteering...its like herding cats

Oohh...hold on...FUZZY !!!

I have RTFT and am delighted to see that nobody has yet baggsied the position I'm applying for.

Minister for Jigsaw Puzzles!

I shall require a large unfurnished office with lots of natural daylight, preferably not right next-door to the Minister for Kittens' office. Grin

A pantechnicon loaded with the essential equipment for my new role will arrive around 4.30pm. Nobody'll mind if I park it in the P&C space, will they?

A referendum on a republic is needed before any of this can happen.

I have the result ready and will be happy to organise the voting Grin

rjay I think that my joke flew over your head!

Maybe I should stick to running cults the church of Neganism rather than making jokes.

I'm sure we had at least one civil servant...they're either out buying more gin, looking for the missing cats or have been emotionally blackmailed into visiting their MIL.

Separation of powers folks, separation of powers. If mn is a state you can’t just stuff the executive with ministers for peppermints, kittens, men and agriculture - you need a legislature and judiciary. And civil servants too.

I hereby nominate myself to be the constitutional expert in the new state of mn.
