Dp wants to take ds age 3 to the touring coco cola truck next week. It's a 30 min drive.to nearest city and it's oh so very chilly these recent days. Am I being a miserable old bag in not wanting to go! In my mind I don't think there will be much to do? Just get afew photos and then What?? Has anybody been before? Would a 3 year old enjoy it?

We went last year in London and it was great! There were bins of free cans, people dressed up, christmas music blaring and people dancing, it was all lit up. It spread some festive cheer! But I wouldn't go just for the truck.. it is just a truck after all. It just happened to be there as we were shopping

I've got no idea what this is. I've never heard of it.

I love Christmas related things but yes, this looks really shit

It came to my town last Christmas which is a 10 minute drive. I didn't go because it's a lorry and nothing to do with Christmas and I don't intend to let dc drink coke so what's the point? I don't get it at all.

I wouldn't even bother to open my curtains if I knew the Coco-Cola truck was driving past.

It's been in my city for the past few years and is coming again (this weekend I think?) Yup, it's shit. What I really can't understand is my 39 year old friend, her 40 something sister and 20 something niece seem to think it's the best thing ever. She posted pics on facebook last year about how excited she was to see it. Mind you, she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer at the best of times.

It's a delivery lorry. I'd barely look out of the window if it passed down our street, tbh. Do people really make great expeditions to see it?
And they don't even hand out free coke?? Confused

A Very big shit in a car park.
Promoting sugar and ignoring obesity is awful.

Posted too soon - I took my DH, DD, DS and niece and was really excited. We got there all the kids shouted "is that it?" It was literally a truck we lights on the side and you queue for a picture and are given a mini can of Coke. I got my DS a Coca Cola truck oranament for a tenner on eBay and that's much better and we we are happy to just look at that now

It’s a lorry. Anyone that goes to see a lorry in celebration of Christmas is an idiot.

😂

We went a couple of years ago, it is just a very nice truck covered in lights.

Just to add to everyone else - I wouldn't do it again. Our family have always been part of the "it's Xmas when you see the Coke ad" and last year due to the dates and our shifts we could finally see the Coca Cola truck. I y

a pickled onion truck instead

How about a pork pie transit van?

Its shit. Queued for ages for a mini can of coke and a picture. No rides or stalls just a lorry with lights.

Hisnamesblaine · 30/11/2017 13:43

Yep. Definitely not going now. It's getting really cold the last few days and I'm getting over a chest infection. Told dp I'm not going. He suddenly didn't seem that interested in taking little one on his own!

What did I spy pulling into the car park of the shopping centre this morning, only the flipping lorry.

I took some pics as it drove past me to get to it spot. Job done.

Have to agree it’s just a lorry. We saw it when out once, but wouldn’t queue for it!

For those asking, the advert started mid 90s (I remember getting excited about it as a kid, sad). But looks like the tours been running only seven years. Yep, I did just look that up.

It is the epitome of consumerism. It's all about selling you Coca Cola and adding a few lights to a truck to make it more Christmassy. I wouldn't travel 30 seconds to see a lorry, never mind 30 minutes.

Y'see now, i'd queue 40 minutes in the cold for a photo op with an Eddie Stobart lorry! Or a Norbert - they're already in Christmas colours Grin

Report
Littlefrogletx · 30/11/2017 00:03

Utter utter shite. You don't have to even queue.
You can just go stand round the back of it and get a picture.

A total letdown. Looks far better on the tv than in real life. Imagine a red Eddie Stobart lorry and you’ve got it!
