AIBU?

Am I in the minority or are they?

In our group of friends (5 girls) 3 of them have often talked over the years about their sexual practices and preferences i.e. Bondage/ dominating their partners (men)/ strap ons etc. No issue with that or judgement whatsoever.

Anyway last night had some relatively new friends over (met through our kids), the wine was flowing and talk turns to the bedroom. Turns out they also use tying up toys strap ons domination on their partners.

Am I in the minority who doesn't or are they? This post is not meant to offend or judge people's sexual preferences I just curious as I always thought they were the minority. Am
I missing out here? Grin

YABU to base your view on such a small section of the population. The acts you describe are pretty common in some places but relatively rare in others. It's not that much of a surprise that if one person in your social group is into it, the others are too - birds of a feather flock together, and so on. But ask people at the other end of the country, and you will get a different response.

It's the level of detail that I find odd though, OP. There's a difference between chatting about having sex and chatting about sticking on a dildo and shoving it up your husband's bum. I'd be fucking horrified (and feel utterly utterly betrayed) if I thought my husband went into any details about what we got up to in the bedroom with his best friends!

I think people that talk about this stuff, probably have very dull vanilla sex but get off on thinking the exciting stuff they just never do it.

In a situation where your talking sex sue isn't going to look and say " well I have sex with Dave once a month, while I lay on my back and look up at the celling. He takes 4 minutes to finished"
Instead Sue is going to say " well I tie Dave up, dress him as a baby and use the strap on to penetrate his arse"

No idea but as long as everyone is consenting I don't see the issue. I think people are more open about their sex lives now and more people are willing to try new things. I think it's healthy.

Why must it be bullshit? Lots of people do and did this stuff long before 50sog came along. I think people feel less judged and more open to discussing stuff these days. Can't say whether you're in the minority or not though op Grin

I don't know anyone who claims to have done that.
And I'm old and know a lot people.

It's like anal. Everyone talks about it but hardly anyone would really do that.

They've probably tried it once, or read 50sog, and are now experts

I call bullshit.

People make up all sorts of crap in these situations (if they're dumb enough to get into these situations in the first place) to sound exciting. It's all "Keep Up with the Joneses" except usually the Joneses are talking out their arses to begin with,
