AIBU?

TO loose weight

So I'm loosing weight (and really need to) I'm bridesmaid for my best friend in December and we have been told by the dress shop that we have to order dresses in may - that is an entire 7 months before the wedding. I am hoping to loose a lot of weight in that time - I've been doing so well and the average weight loss for the programme I'm on is 1 stone a month.

I don't want to stop loosing weight for 7 months but equally don't think I will be the same size and don't feel comfortable ordering a dress knowing I'm planning on being smaller. I've told my friend and she seems unfazed but not sure she realises how serious I am even though pre dc I lost 7 stone with the same diet.

Aibu to continue on anyway and deal with the dress issue later?

Wandering wasn't being a dick.

What is even more annoying is when for the whole rest of the thread people have spelt the word LOSE correctly and also kindly pointed it out to the OP but nope she still insists on spelling it wrong!! To me that justs clarifies the OP is not reading a bloody word anyone writes!

Fucking irritating...

Only seem to be able to manage 8-10lb a month

That is actually a much more sensible weight loss programme, and you are more likely to keep slim afterwards (as I'm sure that you know)

It wasn't an accusation. The OP herself said she had an addictive personality and probably needs counselling.

This is a new one- someone wanting to lose weight being accused of having mental health problems!

Incidentally I know a few people who have successfully lost several stone on cambridge and it's equivalent without adverse effects.

If you stay on a VLCD for 7 months you are at serious risk of really fucking up your digestive system, developing IBS issues and getting painful gallstones and gallbladder issues. I'm speaking from bitter experience and I only did it for half as long as that. Oh, and I ended up putting it all back on within a year too. It's not sustainable and doesn't address the real food issues or teach you a sensible way of eating.
Seriously op, please don't do it, it's really not good for you.

Do not stop losing weight for someone's wedding! Your health is more important. Just tell the bride your thoughts and maybe offer to pay to take the dress in?

7 months is a long time to expect someone to stay the same size. I don't think the bride can reasonably expect that of you.

I think that you need ro think about your long term health You have previously lost 7 stone ?! Have you gained it all back?

And that addiction hasn't gone anywhere, as soon as you start eating again it will come back ten fold.
Retrain yourself to eat normally.

I know the plan OP and you will most likely regain all the weight (like you already have) so why not do something more sustainable instead?

Please please be kind to yourself and get some mental health help. The sugar shakes have already failed once and these massive yo yos are really bad for you.

Sod the dress. Just dont say wedding and they don't take months to make.

A colleague is getting married and has lost weight (not even half what you plan to) and has been told the dress can't be taken in any more so not to lose any more. I expect it depends on the style of the dress but there will be a limit on how much it can be taken in by.

Also warning that VLCD is not good long term

Loving the feeling of not eating is worrying.

You need to deal with your unhealthy attitude towards food. You'll never reach a happy stable weight without sorting this out.

I have really bad food addictive personality. The only time I can loose weight is when I go cold turkey like an alcoholic. Yes I probably need counselling - but right now I love the feeling of not eating, I'm free from the mental tourment of food addiction!

I really would not try to lose weight that quickly, you'll end up with gallstones
As for the dress, if you're determined to be smaller you'll just have to get it altered nearer the time I think. I had to do this once, it was fine.

You can do 12 weeks then add protein and salad for a week then do another 12 weeks.

Good luck!

I sincerely mean that!

But can I be a dick and say please don't do a meal replacement diet? They are not great for you and the weight tends to pile back on when you stop them. I've done several.

You can eat loads and loads of amazing healthy food and lose weight. Could you chat to a dietician and draw something up?

Sorry about the unsolicited advice. I hate these diet/meal replacement fads. They're not the answer. FlowersStarSmile

You can't stay on a vlcd for that long. It's only recommended fog up to 12 weeks.

I guess I just feel like they will look at me and be like "yeah alright love you think your gonna lose 6 stone" eye role kind of ordeal

If they do that, take your custom elsewhere! If they have any idea of customer service, they won't embarrass people who are in the market for £200 bridesmaid dresses.

It really is OK to point out that someone is spelling a word continuously wrong and Wandering was a dick about it.

Good luck with the weight loss - I echo the advice to talk to the dress shop about the feasibility of taking the dress in (they could help you choose a style that will be easy to alter).

I'm sure you've heard this before, but do be careful of your general health if you're on an extreme type of weight-loss plan - 1 stone a month sounds a lot (particularly over an extended period) - you should make sure you have regular health checks.

Best of luck!
