AIBU?

AIBU to think it's ok for disabled to park in P&C parking spaces

After the fun with the last post, going from experience too, I wondered how many would support the notion of the buses legislation AND a disabled person parking in a P&C space where ever, if the disabled spaces are full.

Technically we have the right too with a badge.

I've had issues before where the person with me has parked in a P&C space, without DC present, parents have got quite ratty.

LucklessMonster You are an idiot. Countless posts with photos showing bad parking are available everywhere on the internet. Believe what you wish, keep ranting, and enjoy your anger. Sounds shit to be you frankly!

I'd rather be me than someone too thick to park a car properly. Grin

I saw a letter in my local paper a few years ago where a woman was complaining she got fined for parking in the BB bay at Morrisons because all the P&C's were full. #

I forgot to mention in my previous post that my husband is a powerchair user, so although the regular bays are further away, it isn't a problem for us.

foxedkat · 23/01/2017 00:03

We park in the BB bay mostly, sometimes there are none available so we use P&C instead we have parked across two regular bays when there were no larger spaces available, in all cases we put the BB badges up.

This is ridiculous. Livia pretty much summed the thread up.

anyone who gives a disabled person shit for where they park is a cunt

Everyone has pretty much agreed that disability trumps p+c.

CarolineMumsnet The op stated clearly on the other thread that she started that she was doing this It was started to be goady and for those of us who are tired and bored with 'educating' people because Mumsnet has come to expect it of us, it's not funny, interesting, entertaining or educational. Perhaps instead of passing along a message of peace and love you'd be kind enough to pass on a message of zero tolerance to goady and disablist threads such as these.

Pixel thank you for your advice. We are seeing the surgeon in a few weeks time so I'll ask for his help and with baby two due any day now I'm sure it won't be long before we see the health visitor for weight checks.

We have followed up this issue with the Welsh Government and I thought the reasons they gave us as to why my son wasn't eligible were contradictory and completely contrary to the equality act. Thankfully our local AM also thought the same and has told us that he wants to personally fight this, but goodness knows if change will happen by the time we need it to. Until then we'll have to rely on p&c spaces instead of a temporary use of disabled parking spaces.

Hello and thanks for the reports. We appreciate that topics such as this can cause emotions to run high, and that we can all get het up on t'internet from time to time - if that's how you're feeling then maybe step away from this thread for a little while. Otherwise please could we ask that you keep in mind peace, love and talk guidelines while commenting here. Thank you.

I wouldn't dream of asking Bourdic - it's fairly obvious in general terms. It was a PP upthread who was a little hard of thinking

You haven't been disablist at all Livia.

Me and my mates???

I will say this once more...

anyone who gives a disabled person shit for where they park is a cunt

See - I'm agreeing with you. I didn't mention anything about smugness, several people have said upthread that they thought you were stirring.

They aren't my mates!

I'm afraid that having read your comment on the other thread I came to the same conclusion regarding your motivations.

Where have I used disablist language - could you please point that out?

Yet again I agree that people with disabilities should park wherever the fuck they like. I'm agreeing with you.

Please answer me about why you have decided to single me out rather than the other people who have said similar.

Don't accuse me of being disablist - I didn't mention smugness, that was someone else.

You accused me more or less of posting just for the sheer fun of it.

You & your mates who think I'm doing this for fun are welcome to apologise.

(Posting whilst sat in w/c - what a fun life I have!)

*here

BTW if you're unsure what I mean, look at the language you used.

Plus no smugness. I'm in a W/C & on strong painkillers for my pain. This morning I woke in the dead of night (not unusual) due to symptoms & pain.

Yes I'm new here, no I didn't know it had been discussed.

Maybe compile a list of topics people are allowed to chat about with links to previous thread on the one you've decided to ban. Not the mods but users.

Here's an idea see a thread and think oh no not again, don't go on it. Easy!

My life will be total crap till I die, as I'm sure it will be for many other disabled users.

So reading about a topic I'm interested in, gives me time to see what the views are.

My words ^^ so where am I being disablist? I'm agreeing that disabled people can park wherever they like.

I'm actually agreeing with your point of view, just curious as to why you had to start a TAAT that was going to kick off, just like the other one did?

Oh and Livia - I don't know if you read the other post, but this is 'of interest' because I'm a W/C user & disabled.
We get enough crap in life without get disablist abuse on her too.

You actually started the thread about the wheelchair space on buses yesterday and I believe you wondered what the reaction would be if you started one of these.

And where have I called you a name? I said you were goady and shit stirring - that's not name calling.

The only name calling I have used is when I said that people who have an issue with people with disabilities parking anywhere is a cunt. Presumably you aren't one of those people? If you aren't then it doesn't apply to you.

And several other people think you are goady too if you bother to read the whole thread so fuck off with telling me to keep my views to myself.

Livelovebehappy
So my question is; why does a none wheelchair user need a) more space, or b) to be parked near the store?

If you actually have to ask this then I truly despair. Hmm
