AIBU?

AIBU or is my neighbour?

We had a delivery today, eagerly anticipated! Stayed in all day but had a brief dentist appointment at lunchtime. Naturally the parcel arrived when we were out! Came back and had a note saying it has been left with a neighbour a few doors down- not one we know particularly well. I knocked on the door and had the neighbour open the kitchen window but not come to the door. I explained about the parcel and he said he was busy right now, could I come back later? I asked what time and he said I'll knock on your door if you'll be in for the rest of the afternoon. This was about 3.... AIBU to think it's a bit rude and the time it would have taken to have this conversation he could have opened the door and given me the parcel...

Glad you've got it.

He's either very odd or was naked!

He was doing you a favour OP so just be patient. He's not your postman!

I WFH and I'm forever taking in neighbours parcels. Does my head in.

Nothing more annoying than having to get up and down for other people's goods who aren't at home when you are trying to work, having a hallway full of someones else parcels and then having the doorbell go again when I'm in the middle of a conference call or concentrating on a tricky work issue. Now I ignore them until I have finished working.

I'm dreading December.. My hallway resembles Santa's grotto with gifts for other people and last year one of my neighbours had a sodding artificial chrimbo tree I had to take in. cries inside

On second thoughts, it can't be my BIL because he wouldn't have delivered it, he'd have made you knock on his door for a long time at least once and probably twice.

My, little did we know what joy lay in store the day my sister brought him home.

I wonder if he's my BIL. That's exactly the kind of thing he would do and while you were trying to process it, he'd close the window.

He thinks he's hilarious but in reality he is an antisocial cunt.

Was he fully dressed when he dropped it round? Was he pleasant? Did he make any reference to what he was busy at earlier?

But whatever the heck he was in the middle of, he broke away from it to come to speak to the OP. Her point, and I agree completely, is that instead of coming to the window to speak to her, thus still interrupting whatever he was doing, he could have just come to the door and handed the bloody parcel over!

What a fart on having to sit and wait all afternoon for him to turn up with it, and very frustrating when you're looking forward it getting it.

Now you'll have to let us know when you get it! He must have been half naked.

He's opened it and stalling til he thinks of an excuse.

(Unlikely tbh, but this would be my train of thought because my mind's a prison)

He kindly took your parcel in. And has said he will bring it round later. Be patient. He could be on a conference call. Working , helping someone anything else. yABU

perhaps,
awkward, bloody minded, or in the middle of something.

I demand op goes there and asks Why, did he not let her have the parcel earlier, there is a lot depending on this.
you never know, he might explain,

or then again he might be a cantankerous bugger

Confused NoahVale, how long does it take to hand over a parcel?! The OP was there. It would take seconds.

Weird, go back round and get it. Don't leave without it.

perhaps he was enjoying his lunch, boiling an egg.

Hardly fussing. The OP simply wants her parcel that she's paid for and the neighbour is holding on to. I can't see what could have reasonably stopped him from just handing it over there and then. Bizarre.

Maybe he wasn't dressed. Or sick. Or was in the middle of a terrible phone call.

He did you a favor and you're going to get your parcel. Beats driving to the depot or waiting for re-delivery!

This. Be patient.
