AIBU?

To think if you've been asleep for an hour you forfeit the rights to the TV?

DH was watching something and fell asleep. Its now been about an hour he's been snoring and i just turned the channel over.

he woke up and moaned he was watching something.

AIBU to tell him if he's going to keep falling asleep, he doesn't get to hog the TV to sleep too?

(i know im not, but i'm fishing for sympathy for the fact my saturday night involves NO conversation and listening to him fucking snoring because he refuses to go do it in bed)

Usually my DH will then wake up and rewind the program he was watching and I end up having to watch it again. Pisses me off if he then falls asleep again.

Watched the same bit of program 4 times once

No, No, No. Once maybe, but 4 times? Not a chance in our house. If people fall asleep they lose the right to watch the programme they put on.

DH does this in front of the football. The day is structured around him being back in the house in time to watch it, we're all sorted I have a glass of wine cup of tea and the papers to get through 90 minutes of tedium, he settles down to watch. Sometimes he's asleep before 5 minutes are over. Aaaarghh!!
I give it 5 minutes, definitely not an hour.

Another one here. Last night it was a crappy war movie at volume 100000000. I just switch off and go to bed!

We should send them all off to an island with one TV and one remote.

It would be like Lord of the Flies.

Does anyone else get them keeping the remote on their leg or right next to them and constantly patting it or moving it eeever so slightly? Just in case ninjas have stolen it I assume. Confused

Dad does this, and the rewind trick since they got sky plus. The key is to flick the channel up one then straight back again occasionally if you don't change it completely. DM only does it with repeats but he is obsessed with the same five WW2 programmes he has "never seen" and those sweary gold hunting people so I don't blame her.

He also puts on something crap and vanishes up the garden for an hour or more then starts having a go if the channel was changed. How can you watch something if you are not even in the building the TV is?

DH does this every fucking night. Drives me mad. I give him 5 minutes while I fetch a cuppa and switch it over.

He also squeaks and grinds his teeth rather than snore. He's lucky he is still alive tbh.

i pissed him off quoting bits at him the last time

Haha!

If he's nodding off again that would be it for me.

'Go to bed the remote is now mine'

DH passes out with a death grip on the remote nightly. I'm not bothered unless something horribly violent comes on (I'm looking at you, Scorcese) whereupon I'll change it to a music channel.

I have a universal remote app on my phone Grin

I got to watch Casualty and he woke up.. he's currently watching an episode of Gold Divers.

He's yet to watch it all the way through.. i think i'm on my 3rd viewing.

It was Red Dwarf last week.. i think i got to see that one 5 times.. i pissed him off quoting bits at him the last time.

I once watched Capote which I found deeply disturbing and upsetting, but thought DH was engrossed. He had his own sofa and was facing the TV, not moving. When it ended he suddenly woke up and asked what happened.

I told him that I'd just ruined my evening watching the most upsetting movie of my life and then burst into tears.

At least he didn't try to watch the bit he slept through.

Oh and if you have Sky then get the app. I can turn the channel over without the remote. I'm evil and have been know to do this when I've gone up for the night and I can hear him snoring downstairs.

I could have written this post! He is asleep now, has been for most of the evening but I know when he wakes he will claim he was still watching what was on to earlier or complain about not wanting to watch whatever I have on! YADefinitelyNBU!

Yep, once I hear a single snore tv rights are gone.

Sorry, pressed send too early.

The trick is to slow,y lower the volume of the TV, when it is bate,y audible then change channel then slowly raise the volume again.
Works every time here

Does anyone else have a head drooper? It's incredibly distracting.

and repeat?

Report
Knockdownginger · 22/10/2016 21:56

Absolutely. DH does this all the time and it drives me mad.

Report
MaddyHatter · 22/10/2016 21:53

We have 2 remotes, lol. We replaced the old one because the numbers wore off the buttons, but i kept it, so if he falls asleep, i can still pause what he's watching or change channels...etc. Grin
