Posh people don't clean fgs, they are hock deep in dogs and horses, what on earth would be the point in cleaning!

No I mean brown Labradors were only recently allowed to be pedigree Labradors. Before that they were brown dogs.

So they are nouveau posh. Grin

As well as the brown labrador, I mean. I imagine they have a cleaner. Because otherwise their house would smell

Really? My neighbour has one and he's so posh he has a jack rissole and a rescue staffie.

I don't know what car he drives but I will keep my eyes peeled

"love that we are onto dogs now and do think it is funny that anyone could try and claim a Lab to be a WC breed dog"

Erm, I didn't say they were a WC breed - merely that they are a breed that appeal to all social strata

•naturalhistorymuseum1• Qashqai's are awesome, far far prettier than ugly bricks that are RR's. I say this as a 4x4 hater, but after being upgraded to a Qashqai without realising one holiday, we utterly fell in love with it and am certain no owner would secretly be aspiring to actually have a RR...euurgh.

I have a feeling that RR's are an already slightly outdated trend for a certain type of woman that we had with say fake tan, boob jobs, hair extensions, when suddenly 1000s of women everywhere wanted and had them, only to look back and realise they were actually far trashier than they realised.

Round here it's a mix: chihuahuas, brown or golden labradors, jack russells and those incredibly posh Patterdale terriers.

Not many cats.

Nobby has made friends with them all including the husky and the large and handsome dog fox who has taken up residence in my basement and sadly has to be evicted.

I wonder what happens to staffie/labrador crosses? Do they wander mournfully from country estate to housing estate howling 'I'm Nobody's Child'.

Report
HoneyDragon · 06/10/2016 11:41

Surely Labs should be upper class as they are inbred, a bit dim and socially inept?

Round here the middle class have Staffies to show their right on hipsterness.

I love this thread too! I was tailgated and hounded badly by a bloody bloke in a roaring great black RR just yesterday, I was sort of half laughing and half swearing at the predictability and topicality of it. We were in a 30mph zone and he was clearly as irritated as hell by my determination to stick to the speed limit. Come to think of it 'he' was a bearded bloke not the normal blondie with shades though Grin.

I love that we are onto dogs now and do think it is funny that anyone could try and claim a Lab to be a WC breed dog. They are so MC, 99% of villagers around me have either one of them or a JR. Drive through the local council estate and 99% of the hounds are Staffies.

Nothing wrong with either but stereotypes are stereotypes with good reason.

Haha, it's the type that rural grannys drive, wheel on the back, no room in boot for the tiniest picnic hamper......can't fit in much more than a pair of posh sunnies and my sons Rugby boots.

DH promised me a Mercedes 4x4 for my birthday.

I am now regularly seen winching across the Waitrose car park in a Unimog. You can fit a surprising amount of shopping into a Unimog.

Brian and Clyde sound like the cool hounds on the block. I have a fondness for an ugly mongrel.

(just not when they give mongrels a silly name and think that gives licence to then charge £500 for a pup!)

Generally considered to be a dog as he barks. But the jury's out, other possibilities are a honeybadger with an Afro or some sort of hirsute gremlin. Is usually seen hanging around with a deerhound cross called Clyde.

What's a Brian?

Report
HoneyDragon · 05/10/2016 12:36

Actually thinking about it Our previous dearly departed Lab was from working stock and the result of an accidental mating. So we wouldn't have ended up with her if we had lived in a city or town, and not worked out of a disused farm building. So location is an influence.

Also I lived a street away from a social housing close and out of eight houses there were two Labs, a Lab x, one Staff and a Brian.
