Not an anti post, quite the opposite.

I did the whole Pokémon thing with the DCs years ago. Used to watch the cartoons with them, even saw the film. Helped them organise and swap their hundreds of cards. Know a charmander from a charizard etc.

Now they are mid/ late teens and have this week walked about 15 miles tracking Pokémon. This is amazing as DS2 in particular can't be prised from his bedroom normally, I don't think they've had this much fresh air in years Grin

But I can't bloody join in because there is no app for my phone . AIBU to think this is grossly unfair?!

Ds1 has been surprisingly sympathetic for a teen and offered me to come with him and catch some on his phone but it's not the same!

I love Ingress too. But for this game, I wouldn’t have met many great people online and in person. Sometimes I buy Ingress items at ingress-shop.net/ to move faster in game. I've recently hit level 9

I don't play Pokemon Go, I'm nuts about Ingress

Yeah, at 5 months that's less easy. But there is always the after party. And I can guarantee that there will be an amazing cake table for that one, which will help with the cluster feeds. I've seen the spreadsheet for cake contributions and it all looks yum.

And OiWith definitely give Ingress a go. You can join Bada and me on the Resistance team (blue). I'd recommend a look at smurf.help for some guides to get you started.

She's only 5 months and still cluster feeds so I'll have to sit this one out! Haven't played since she came along but I'll head over to the hangout and see if I can help with intel or recharging, I'm just outside brum. I love ingress!

I'm sure there'll be a parents and kids team - we had a 3 year old in a buggy along with our team for Interitus, and with all anomalies being hybrid now you might get away with asking to go on a shard target near a cafe or something and catching Pokemon when DD needs distracting.

Still, depends how old she is. DS was 8 when he played his first anomaly. He's the very definition of a single task player, but very effective at smashing, so he was happy Grin

Lots of London Res going, but I may host a recharge room for those stuck behind like me if I'm not on Intel.

Do you like my new user name Smile

My DD2 (19) has just got an old scooter out of the shed. I think her and her BF are off out. 😂

I'm missing it too despite it being on my doorstep - DD is a little too young to be dragged along! Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in the photographs.

Haha! That's classic! Am also enjoying seeing my portals become pokestops. We have a family trip to Wales coming up in August and I suspect the tiny hamlet we're visiting will have pokestops because I submitted portals last time we were there. I loved the seer badge, but it feels like they just binned the submission queue when they stopped it.

I'm sad to be missing the upcoming Brum anomaly, but I will at least be sending cake.

I'm a little further north than you! My sworn green enemy once accidentally added me to a hangout dedicated to breaking our stronghold locally. It was hilarious and resulted in a 3am raid of their portals while my dh stayed to defend.

Strangely proud that every pokestop here is a portal I submitted years ago.

Smurf! Could easily out myself by mentioning some of the fun I've had playing Ingress, Bada, but these days I'm mostly an Intel monkey due to disability. Although my lovely local Ingress friends helped me get gold and almost platinum illuminator by bringing the BAF to my home portals not long ago, which is no mean feat in central London.

The Ingress community being what it is, we may even already be in a hangout together Grin

I'd never heard of ingress until I saw people talking about it in the last few days. It sounds great, I'll definitely be looking into it. I do think the pokemon novelty will wear off pretty quickly.

My autistic 11 year old is obsessed with Pokemon and has been for the past couple of years. Her classmates are very kind with her and sensitive about her obsessions. This is only going to make her closer and more accepted in society. I love it.
Sadly, the DC have been at their dad's all week and not due back until tomorrow. I can't wait for them to get home and we can start hunting Pokemon together I may or may not have made a start for her She's hoping for her own phone for Christmas, and this is one reason I'll move heaven and earth to provide one for her.

Another ingress player here. (Frog)
Brilliant game, takes you world wide - so far have been to organised meetings (called Anomalies) in London, Edinburgh, Orlando and next month to Cologne.
This article explains the difference very well.

No. No I'm not.

I only got this phone (contract) a couple of months ago. It's great in every other respect.

I'm just gutted there's no app for it :(

Bugger.

My neighbours have a teenage son who hides in his room a lot, and complains that his younger sister is a pain etc (fairly standard teenage behaviour I'd imagine). The other evening I saw he had taken her out for a walk to go Pokemon hunting (the younger sister told me that's what they were doing) and they were walking along and chatting and laughing together and it gave me a bit of a heart warming moment!

My phone is no longer my own because it's the only one it works properly on - their phones/iPods etc don't have GPS so don't show location accurately enough, even when hot spotted to mine apparently.

I have to wrestle it back off them when I get a text or call. And they each have their own accounts, so every time they find something they have to switch accounts on my phone so they both get it.

The novelty is wearing off fast for me Smile

I was out for hours in torrential rain with dd1 in her full waterproofs and baby dd2 strapped into her baby carrier. It was great fun and got us out the house on a day when we would have otherwise just sat in getting bored.

I think you'll need to get a new phone Grin
