Now UKIP is defunct as we are (sadly) en route to independence AIBU to fear 'people's champion' Farage will defect to the conservatives and head for leadership?!
I see a terrifying future of Trump, Farage and the rise of the the far right across Europe ConfusedSad

RoseDeGambrinus you are so right. To start off with on Have I Got News For You Boris came across as a lovable buffoon. Actually he is a very clever man with a very good pr team. He is a power hungry manipulative wanker with no morals. He doesn't actually believe the shit he comes out with. Anything to be PM. And to think we took the piss out of the Americans for Trump. Please don't let this happen!!

Allalonenow: "No, Farage isn't posh enough for PM, and didn't go to the right school, he only went to Dulwich College."

Well it may not be Eton but being the son of a stockbroker, attending Dulwich College (a posh public school) and working as a city trader means that his background is elite and establishment.

But not being an MP is a problem so probably Boris, Gove or possibly May or (heaven help us) IDS are stronger conservative candidates.

I guess Farage is facing unemployment himself now as his cushy job on expenses as an EU MEP will end when Brexit occurs - although he always said that his main aim was to destry the Tories - so time will tell if he manages this

Of course not. They won't just disappear (sadly). Wonder if he will have his wife repatriated...

Won't happen for reasons given above. But don't bet on UKIP being defunct.

You have to be an MP to be PM. He's not.

Ffs. This is the kind of 'informed critical thinking' that got us in this mess.

No it will probably be Boris who doesn't even believe in Brexit, he fucked this country up purely to further his personal ambition.

I see him disbanding UKIP, rejoining the Tories and gaining a top position in Boris' cabinet. Or, worse case scenario, joins the Tories, has a Corbyn-like surge of support, and becomes PM.

Don't worry, he's probably thinking he won't need the menial step of an elected government role judging by the disturbing amount of people on my FB feed who think he's worthy of immediate knighthood Hmm

Excuse my thickness in asking this question, but. How the hell can NF become. If he isn't even part of the Tory party. I don't understand.

That would be like having Satan (Nigel Farage) and Judas Iscariot (Boris)
Lucifer (Michael Gove) and then you think of Trump and Lepen and you just want to go drown in the Thames. God help us Sad

YANBU although he is more likely to lead Labour than Tory. Look at the Leave demographic. It's the reason why Corbyn is under threat.

Report
Rainbunny · 24/06/2016 21:49

Oh God, well the best I'm hoping for is that the Labour party quickly sorts out their leadership issues, hopefully choosing a better leader (I like JC but he has been ineffectual in the leadership role and can't win a general election), and that we have a general election called sooner rather than later. I wonder if we'd get the Tory party out of office in such a scenario?

YABU. One of the few benefits of Brexit is 22 UKIP MEPs being out of a job by 2020.
