it was about 3 hours old, I mixed up the bottles when we were out.

she's 6 months old

health visitor is being vague, anyone know anything about this, what are the chances she'll get ill and what are the symptoms?

I know it's no excuse but i'm under loads of stress and never wanted to have to mixed feed in the first place!!!!!
thanks xxx

She'll be fine. I didn't realise you were supposed to keep bottles with ice packs so used to just stick made up bottles in my bag and give them to him when out! He was fine.

Very unlikely she'll get ill.

I don't know why anyone would flame a mum for making a little mistake - none of us are perfect but we all do our best!

Years back, when we didn't know better there were these polystyrene bottle keep warmer type of things and we thought nothing of making a feed up, sticking it the polystyrene thing and then feeding it to our babies hours later, no internet to scare us, our babies survived.

Am sure your little one will be ok OP x think your health visitor should be a bit more supportive with information.

TBH though, at 6 months in those days my DC were on cows milk, 'shock horror '

Blimey at 6mo both mine were cruising and putting all sorts in their mouths. Including potentially weeks old food located on my mothers floor, and licking visiting buggy wheels :)

When I had my Don 13 years ago I didn't have a clue I really didn't!

Looking back now I wounder how we both survived.

I used to make a 9oz bottle up and put it by the bed and feed him from the same bottle through the night. I think about it now and wondered how I didn't no that was so bad!!

He was fine thank god and I'm pleased to say I finally learnt the right way.

Don't beat your self up honestly .. you are doing great

3 hours?! Grin someone I know gave their baby 24hr old 'off' cows milk at bedtime. Then wondered why their toddler was vomiting. Doh.

I was thinking of you this evening when I popped the half finished bottle of milk on the bedside table just in case hungry guts wakes up in the next two hours.

You're doing fine. Tell your HV to get some common sense.

MiddleClassProblem · 11/05/2016 09:41

HV was being vague because she knew it would be fine but can't say that in case someone then decided to do it all the time and that kid got sick and said the HV said it was fine. Although HV could clearly use the slide claimed "as a one off"

I did this with DD1 when I was returning to work. I was b'feeding and had to go into hospital for an op when she was only 5wks old. During the 2wks I was in hospital, she was partly b'fed and partly formula fed. I went back to full time b'feeding when I was out of hospital. Comes to the time I need to wean her off me and onto formula for going back to work and I merrily give her the formula that's been open, in my cupboard for 3 months......! She had 2 bottles during an afternoon, was violently sick 3 times, and ended up in hospital with gastroenteritis.....! Whoops! You have my sympathy OP - it's an easy mistake to make Flowers

steviewonderful · 13/05/2016 22:23

thanks again everyone
happy to say that little one showed absolutely no signs of it bothering her, but I've amended my routine a bit to hopefully stop it happening again
