AIBU?

To think that whoever is in charge of maternity stock at Boots has never been near a set of postnatal nether regions?

I'm due DC3 any time now and suddenly realised I have none of the essential postnatal stuff - I've been a bit too casual about it all this time round!

I went to our local Boots which is massive - two huge floors with several aisles of baby clothes, a huge gifts section, big electrical goods selection - pretty much everything you could possibly need and a whole load of stuff you don't.

I could not find any maternity pads anywhere. There were about 10 different varieties of breast pad, a dozen different breast milk storage options, a whole aisle of postnatal bubble baths and pamper kits, but no maternity pads. When I asked, the assistant looked a bit embarrassed and pointed me to the bottom shelf of the pamper kit section, where tucked away in the corner there was one tiny (very pretty floral print) packet of ultra-thin maternity pads.

This is all they now stock.

Apparently they've 'reduced their selection.'' The assistant wasn't quite sure why, as apparently I am not the first heavily pregnant woman to come in, glare at the flowery packaging and point out that a pack of 10 ultra-thin maternity pads are going to be about as much use as a chocolate teapot immediately after giving birth.

Is this a bad product decision or is it just me? Does everyone else breeze about postnatally, bedecked in flowery pads the size of a postage-stamp?

When I had the other 2 DCs I had some lovely Boots maternity pads that felt like sitting on giant down-filled cushions. I want the massive pads! Surely this is not too much to ask when I'm about to expel a whole human being from my nether regions?

And any recommendations for alternatives?

Order online for store pick up?

These are the same ones they've had for the last 4yrs. They better not stop selling them, these are the only thing that work for me - I have period problems and flood out of every other sanitary pad going in well under 1hr, these last just over an hour.

Mothercare with aloe Vera are the best.
