To ask what your period feels like?

I've been in the pill since I was 18. Stopped taking it to TTC DS and got pregnant before I'd even had a period, so I haven't had a 'proper' period for over 15 years.

Have stopped the pill again to TTC and am awaiting first period. I have been feeling like it's coming for almost a week but I can't actually remember what it feels like.

My uterus feels swollen and hard, my lower back is sore, my hips are sore. I had sex yesterday and I felt a bit sore inside (as in when DH's penis was poking my cervix) That means my period is coming right?

Sorry if the 'poking' bit is TMI!!

Grumpy, weepy, can't walk through a door without hitting some part of my body on the frame. Then I rage at the door Hmm
Crave shit food, constantly hungry
Cramps that go down my legs (apparently common if uterus tilted)
Upset stomach
Dragging pains in stomach and low down that make me want to curl up or vomit
Feeling of flooding every time I stand up but mooncup solved that!

Like that.

I can start a fight in an empty room

This. I recently started a fight with DP because I knocked a bag of dog treats over and they all fell out when I grabbed the packet. He calmly said "it doesn't matter, just pick them up" and I shouted at him that I had a train to catch before bursting into tears Confused

I also cried a lot one day because DP is going to die one day and I don't want him to Blush

I also get the dodgy stomach, the ridiculous clumsiness (it feels like I'm wearing big rubber hands and feet!), the spots, the hunger and the cramps.

so glad I went on this thread as I am the same, really down , sore chest, constipation for a day then the squits, really heavy for about 3 days, then I think its stopped and it will start up again! not to mention the bloating, wind etc etc. I cannot remember it as bad when I was younger and took the pill, but I was sterilised in my mid 30's ( 17 years ago now) so if this makes a difference I'm not sure, but they have got worse and the depression before hand is a killer too ( but I just blame peri menopause symptoms..) its not good.

I have almost no symptoms except blood but I have PCOS. So annoying as symptoms are, at least they indicate everything is working properly.

I don't notice anything before mine starts, although in the past I've felt very depressed the day before.

Mine starts off as a trickle which can go on for days, then it starts properly and all hell lets loose. Yes I get loose bowels and often get very bad migrainey-headaches. After 2 days it calms down and goes back to a trickle. Generally lasts about 10 days. Sometimes towards the end I feel like my insides are rotting - not a pleasant experience. I think the theory about it being worse depending on which side you've ovulated might be true.

But I think compared to a lot of people I have it quite easy. It would just be nice not to worry about making a mess of the bed on my heaviest nights.

Yes, the squits are my period precursor.

First day or two feel like my insides are falling out.

My periods don't feel like ANYTHING because I am QUITE OLD and I don't get 'em any more and it's MARVELLOUS. Don't let anyone tell you ageing is bad. It's liberating in more ways than one.

You must have buried the horror Grin hopefully everything returns to normal soon and if you feel better today maybe it has passed and your period will arrive soon

tatty no, no withdrawal bleed as yet. So I'm not sure if that's gonna be bad or whether that will be ok and then the real thing will be much worse.

I will have to POAS in a couple of weeks if nothing happens as I got pregnant so easily last time, but I'm not expecting to be so lucky again.

I just don't want to feel pre-menstral forever! Although it seems to have gone away this morning.

Thanks for sharing everyone. I feel for you all. Most of the responses strike a chord with me, somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind.

Ha! So I am not the only one who gets the squits - I had no idea!

I never used to feel much until I had a copper coil fitted last year. Since then - AGONY. Day one of my period feels much like day one of my labour did. Not nice.

It's definetly only become more noticeable for me since we started ttc, so now I'm aware of the cyclical nature of my mood swings! The weeps make generally sane, predictable old me a snotty, snivelling mess! Rationale and logic go out of the window! Grin

Report
MrsJayy · 15/03/2016 00:09

When your sane and rational you can hold back tears but when you have the weeps it happens no warning tears and sobs i once burst out crying at a tv programme about gorilas a mum was looking at her babies feet in wonder i said to dh aww isnt that cute he backed away from the crazy lady Grin

Deleted half a sentence there... *woke up over Christmas, looked at Dh who was still asleep and bawled because I looked at him and realised I just loved him so much! Blush

mrsjayy that would have been the end of me! I cried last month because Dh had put the chicken in the oven and I'd decided it wasn't hot enough. I woke up over Christmas. I'm not a particularly effusive, gushy person so it always takes me by surprise!

Sorry for the extremely random derail OP! The only know cure in my household for periods is plenty of Wine! Have a glass on me!

Yes, somehow planes seem preferable to periods.
We have 'Neighbours of Duxford' free passes (sorry to gloat)
But I voluntarily flip burgers or man the car park at Duxford school on Air Show days (parking £12, all funds raised go to the school, can get a good view from nearby fields [shameless plug, I know])
Right, I will shut up and let the thread continue :)

I have always sailed through mine until about 2 years ago when WHAM!! Now, at fucking 50 (yes, 50!!!) I have back ache, leg cramps, stomach cramps, I stink, every body else REALLY stinks, insomnia, boob ache, migraine heads, greasy hair, murderous tendencies and a foul mouth!!

Oh, and as soon as one is over, the symptoms for the next one start...

Report
BadDoGooder · 14/03/2016 23:09

Yeah I love Duxford any flight based museum
It's pretty much the only place I don't resent the asking price, we got there at 10 on Saturday and didn't leave till 5, it's well worth the money!(especially if it involves a picnic with wine!)
Plus 3yr old DS just loves it, they've opened up loads more planes to walk through.

I am extremely jealous of your FiL, I was making suitably hinting faces at DP at the flights advert, but he doesn't really get not so subtle hints! Grin
