peaceful I had an ikea duvet cover like that...worked it out cos it was more than one corner ...
I still found it a faff just slightly easier if it got rucked up - have 'missed' them once or twice but not enough to unpick the top edges of other covers without the slits (guess you'd have to hem it up to stop fraying though)

Last night I asked DH to make up the bed while I went for a bath. I walked in 20 minutes later and he was stood in the middle of the room exactly like that photo! He'd been stood there the entire time trying to work out what he was supposed to do.

Swedish duvet covers have neat little slits in the top corners. You just slip your hands through and out through the bottom, grab the corners of the quilt and pull it through. Easy. In the early days of operating in the UK, IKEA duvet covers were made like this, but people didn't realise what the holes were for and kept returning the covers as faulty.

I find the best method is to get DH to do them. I try not to grumble if they end up inside out.

DH and I went the two duvets on king size bed route But DH didn't like it .
Went back to one king size so I painstakingly sewed the two single covers together. My mum would have been so pleased with me -waste not want not!

Lie duvet cover flat on bed.

Lie duvet on top of it but half way down.

Take RH corner of duvet in hand and put inside cover.

Hold on to RH corner of cover and duvet.

Repeat for LH corner.

Hold both corners and shake.

Cocktail's method works for me too. The important thing is to show the duvet no fear. They can smell it if you do.

cant believe I haven't seen this before! It's genious if your doing it single handed but not quicker than two people! I rope in DH, turn duvet cover inside out, take one side each, hand inside cover and grab the corner of the duvet and use other hand to guide cover down over duvet.

As for ironed duvet covers.........I iron them once they are on the bed! Gets the worst of any creases out.

Dp used to go inside the duvet cover, trailing duvet behind him, then tuck in the corners, then try to get the edges lined up. Then try to climb out without pulling it all out again. He was 26 when he realised watched me doing it you don't have to go inside the cover. I think his mum still does it that way though.

I lay cover flat, put right edge of duvet into bottom right corner of cover, and push it along seam until it's on top right corner. Then do same with other side. Could never get the inside out thing to work.

Yes, tricks of the chambermaid trade .
The roll method, or the inside-corner method are the best. It takes some moving with a king/super king size but better than any alternative other than sleeping under a duvet minus cover

Inside out and corner grabbing here too, I hate changing the duvet covers regardless as it always makes my shoulders hurt so I leave it to DH.

Lorelei (and others)..I have sewn ribbons into the seam at the top of the duvet and they thread either into the buttonholes on the duvert (some All seasons have these) or I have sewn ribbons onto the duvet. They dont show at all.

What I did find is not to use the very fine ribbbon and use it double and knot then together

Ginmakes - I know what you mean. Your kids can have both a duvet and get the tucked in sensation. My mum (for whatever strange reason) insists on having a sheet between the duvet and the sleeping person that gets fully tucked in. Do that.

I have ribbons on the top inside corner of the duvet cover.

Turn the duvet inside out, tie the ribbons to the buttonholes on the duvet.

Turn back and give a shake

I think it is important to inject fun into otherwise mind numbing and soul destroying tasks. Being a duvet is one of my faves for lifting the spirit. Efficient it may not be but life affirming it is.
