I am probably over thinking it! Just seems an odd phrase for a kids tshirt.

The child's wearing the slogan, therefore it's the child 'saying' it!

If you choose to wear a slogan t-shirt then you don't have to imagine everyone who you might meet saying the slogan to you before choosing it, you choose a slogan which represents what you want to say to the world, not what they might say to you!

Lila wins!! Shock

I've just asked my 4.7yo DS about the original T-shirt. He says it's a silly t-shirt and that he would not want to run away unless mummy and daddy come too. So there. Market research, yo Grin

I had a 'Frankie says Relax' t-shirt when I was about 7 (mum was very naive).

I'm alright Grin

I imagine the next line after "let's run away" would be "and live on an island and never have to go to school. We'll have cake for breakfast EVERY DAY, mummy".

Maybe it means 'Lets run away from all the weirdos hanging about reading our t-shirts'. :o

blimey - we never had this on our T shirts growing up but I still ran away aged 4 to the field across the road with my teddy and a suitcase containing the Theme to Black Beauty and some icing sugar butties

I really can't see the problem with this. In this context, it reminds of a Magic Faraway Tree-ish escape.

You're the one who brought up the 'weirdos' Belle, what do you think they will do? There has also been talk of adults luring children to run away.

What does any of that have to do with a t-shirt?

Ah the little boy in the 'what up bro' jumper is adorable.

Report
MeadowHay · 29/01/2016 20:14

I think it is stupid and inappropriate. I'm sure the manufacturers just haven't really thought about it, but I wouldn't want my kid wearing that really. YANBU.

It's an odd kind of phrase for a t-shirt I suppose but it's not jingling my creepy bells.

That experiment doesn't make much sense to me. Maybe a child might say it to another child.

LittleBeautyBelle · 29/01/2016 20:04

Here's an experiment. Think of an adult, any adult, saying to a child, "Let's run away." Sounds creepy to me.

If you can't say the logo out loud to the child without sounding like a pervert or weirdo, then you have your answer.

weather, you are really twisting to accuse those of us who don't like the shirt to be victim blaming, that is ridiculous.

I am not sure H&M have any sort of quality control/slogan manager judging by this boys' top. Missing an apostrophe s.

No, I don't weather. I'm saying, why have that on a kid's t-shirt at all? I think you know what I meant. It sounds like something a weirdo would say to a child.

Hey, if you love that slogan, by all means buy that shirt for a young girl you have or know.

I think it is inappropriate and would not want it for any daughter of mine or the daughter of any of my friends.

H&M are big on slogans IIRC.

WitchWay · 29/01/2016 19:45

Not very nice, agreed, but better than the "Boy Toy" type ones I think.

What's wrong with "no slogans"? The top is perfectly nice till ruined by without the silly slogan

I have a t-shirt slogan.

'Victim Blaming - Start 'Em Young'

Belle do you really think 'weirdos' take their cues from t-shirt slogans?
