I am totally prepared to be told IABU, I just cannot work it out.
I booked a holiday never again for myself and four friends to Dublin, with flights and two hotel rooms, so there would be two of us in one room and three in another. There was no discussion ahead of time about who would share with whom and we are all really close, been mates for more than 20 years so I didn't think any issues would arise.
The five of us shared the cost of the holiday equally. Again, I didn't think of asking who would be in the double and who in the triple and/or making any financial adjustment for this.
A couple of weeks after the booking, one of the women has said she would like a single room in exchange for her share in the other rooms, so we will be in two doubles plus one single.
When I called the holiday company they said we would have to book a single room and this would cost an extra £154. I have told my friend and she said she would pay this but wants a refund on what she already paid towards the double rooms.
I cannot quite get my head around it all, maths isn't my strong point, but I think the holiday company are correct, and that as we would need a whole extra room, the cost should go up. I don't think it is fair to spread that cost over the remaining four of us as it is only going up because she wants a single room.
