to put 2 single duvets on a double bed?

It'll be in a holiday rental house which is why I am asking - I would be quite pleased with this arrangement but would it be too strange to turn up to your double bedroom to find two single duvets??
They would be so much easier to launder too....

YABU. I'd expect a double duvet on the double bed in my holiday house. Hmm

Wouldn't bother me at all . I lived in Germany where is was the norm at home and in hotels/ guest houses

I'd be miffed if there was a double duvet on a double bed. Either the sharing duvet needs to be a size bigger than the bed or we need a duvet each.

If you are in the UK and most of your guests are British, it would be mostly seen as weird and offputting.

I holiday mostly in Spain, and the norm there appears to be two single beds pushed together with any sized duvets - sometimes single, sometimes double/king sized (or sheets and blankets - shudder).

So if a couple try to cuddle or have sex they have to negotiate the gap and lump in the middle - not great and I always wonder if Spanish couples generally live like this at home.

It is obviously unpopular amongst Brits, because in areas with a large British expat commuity, there are shops that boast about selling 'English beds'.

I love a good snuggle with DP at bedtime. Sometimes it's just a cuddle before sleep other times who knows what.

I'd be most pissed off if I'd paid money for a holiday rental and there was 2 single duvets on a double bed.

I wouldn't think you were doing it for convenience I'd think you were being cheap and tight to be honest. Sorry!

I would be disappointed with two single duvets on a double.

Doesn't matter in the slightest. we've had it in european rentals. Actually it's quite nice !

chrome100 · 05/01/2015 11:12

We do this. It works well. I have mine and half of DP's (I am very cold) and he has the rest of his.

chrome100 · 05/01/2015 11:12

Oh but ours are double duvets which I guess is different.

Babetti · 05/01/2015 11:17

I've encountered this in hotels in Austria. They always folded the duvets and towels beautifully so I was distracted by how nice it looked rather than thinking "ugh, two duvets". I find the two beds pushed together far more annoying.
