I had a large mole removed from my face about 3 months ago. It had increased in size and used to itch (I think mainly because I would get a blocked pore under it)

The Consultant said it is a mole that wouldn't ever be cancerous but they would remove it if i wanted to.

I had it shaved and I am over the moon with the result. Yes, I have a scar with a slight indent but it is no where near as 'unslightly' as the mole. My mole was large, dark and raised and I did feel that people would often stare at it.

I was going to do this with a large mole (also skin coloured) that I had hated for years but I tried Dermatend after reading about it on here and my mole is no more! No scar and no surgery. I wouldn't recommend it if you think your mole is suspicious but if it's just unsightly it's miraculous stuff. I did need a couple of applications and as my mole was on the delicate skin under my eye I did look like I had been punched for a few days but it's definitely been worth it. Wish I did it years ago.

I had the same procedure on two moles I had on my face that sound like yours StinkyPants . Had it removed with a consultant at the Nuffield and he explained that there can be some scarring.

The mole on my cheek has gone, there is barely a mark there and you would only see it if you were looking for it. The one between my nose and my lip has a small amount of scarring but not noticeable due to the location.

The cost was very close to what you have been quoted and included the moles being sent off for testing.

If it is something you are conscious of then go for it, I'm glad I did.

Oh, and when I enquired with my gp they told me there was absolutely nothing in my particular moles that could turn cancerous and that they would not remove them under any circumstance.

It's a skin tag. Flesh coloured sometimes bobbly, sometimes smooth looking just like a mole. I get LOADS of them! I hate hate hate them. I'm saving to get my next lot zapped. Dermo uses a burning type instrument. I get a local injected into the nerve then minutes later mr dermo prods away, then a quick wipe and a plaster. No stitches, painless and all done in 15 mins. Usually get nhs as some caught on my clothing, but the rest I'm paying for. Frankly I'd sell DH to pay for it, and I quite like having him around but hey, priorities! Grin

I had one removed 6 years ago for £270 and wish I had done it sooner as I hated it and felt so self conscious. It was a shave excision so very little scarring and no stitches and the only pain was when they injected the local anaesthetic as it has to go into the muscle so it was quite a big needle going in quite deep.

It does look like it is starting to grow back though which is annoying but I will go back and get it done again if necessary, to me £270 for 6 years mole free is worth it! If you feel self conscious about it do it!

YANBU! I have booked to see a private derm in January for some very red marks on my cheeks by my nose. It's damaged thanks to a skin condition I had and the specialist I'm seeing will charge 100 just for a consultation and laser patch test.

Subsequent treatments will be about 150 and I'll need around 2 or 3. We're far from well off but it's my face! I can't stand the marks and they make me self conscious.

The NHS isn't there for minor things like this....so if I want them gone I have to dig deep!

Have it done - I paid over £100 to have a spider neavus removed - people said it looked ok etc but it really upset me - best thing I ever had done.

Since having DS I have a few more and I'm going to go back and have them done too.

Don't feel guilty just have it done if it bothers you.

YANBU if nobody is going without as a result.

DH had a mole removed from his jawline some years ago. The GP referred him to the NHS because he used to catch it a lot when shaving. Poor DH, they just pinched up the skin and cut it off with scissors. He said it took ages because they cut through such a large area of skin. He was in shock afterwards and in quite a state. He has quite a deep scar there now.

The GP has just removed ten skintags from around my neck with liquid nitrogen. It stung like a bastard and looked hideous for the first week but after two weeks the scabs have all come off and you can hardly see were they were now.

Get it done. £200 is nothing in the grand scheme.

You don't have to justify spending money on yourself as opposed to your children. It's very kind that you think that way but you are allowed to come first sometimes too!

I say get yourself booked in.

Yanbu.

I had one done on NHS a few years back, no regrets. It wasn't face though but was in a position that rubbed on clothing and I hated it as it stuck out so much. I used to try pull it off when I was a kid! I had it and surrounding skin excised and needed two stitches. It was sore for about 10 days. The scar is fine and it hasn't grown back. I would rather have a scar than a big mole personally.

Also had a skin tag burned off at GPs free. My friend's daughter just had a facial one removed free and another a lump removed.

Go for it!
