To be grossed out by him eating our leftovers?

On a working trip wash for 3 weeks, it's a global company and there is a group of 20 people (some I have never met )

We have been out if dinner as a whole group 5 times. Each time people finish their desserts the same guy will eat all the leftovers. I even asked him how many desserts he had and he said 6.

He will walk up and down the table to see who has finished or will shout your name across the table. I had half eaten ice cream which he took and ate.

Aibu to think this behaviour rather gross?

Eugh! Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you're all lovely clean people. But URGH!

DogCalledRudis · 21/08/2014 16:12

Doing that at corporate dinners a bit bizarre, but otherwise -- whats the harm? Maybe he has an eatting disorder?

PenisesAreNotPink · 21/08/2014 16:17

I'm more concerned that 6 people are wasting food

Haven't you heard about the starving in Africa Wink

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 21/08/2014 17:33

What's the harm? He's eating the saliva of strangers. Boak!

Bouttimeforwine · 21/08/2014 17:47

Who are all these people who leave deserts? Very odd.

I might actually want to hoover up other peoples delicious looking deserts but nah can't be doing with the germs and no, its not good manners some look tempting though

TheRealAmandaClarke · 21/08/2014 18:12

Thats quite unusual.
I don't think i would be grossed out by it, but i would be very surprised.
Although i have to second the question about why ppl don't finish dessert. Grin I always think that looks twee.
Cake anyone?

NorwaySpruce · 21/08/2014 18:14

Well other people's 'germs' haven't killed him yet.

There is food there, that would otherwise go to waste. Why make the guy sad just to make a point about manners, or to be able to go 'eewww'.

I'd just offer him whatever I didn't want.

Fourarmsv2 · 21/08/2014 18:25

Is he a rower? (Maybe we know the same person...)

HappyYoni · 21/08/2014 18:48

I don't find it particularly gross, it is a bit odd tho.
Some of the comments on here make it sounds like people routinely spit into their dinner!

MyLifeIsFictional · 21/08/2014 19:19

On a cross channel ferry, I was full and left with half a plate of cold chips. This guy asked me "are you done with that" and I said "yes" thinking he was clearing tables.

He was. To eat. I just thought "he must be desperate" and didn't really think anything of it. My OH offered to buy him a lunch and he said, "no, I'm not a beggar" and continued eating.

On work evenings- out friends often share a dessert.
In terms of "grossing out" i cant see any difference.

SourSweets · 21/08/2014 20:11

I have a friend who always used to eat my leftovers and it made me feel ill.

Seriously gross.
