To not have a clue how to sew name tags on dd's uniform

Dd1 is starting YR in September and I want to use sew on labels rather than iron on ones as I've had issues with those at nursery previously.

I know I am a daft cow but I haven't got a clue how to sew these buggers on Blush.

Do I need a sewing machine? Are there any online tutorials? Is it going to take ages?

I am not always so hopeless Grin

These look fun are they big?

Not big, no. Maybe 8mm across, and the outside bit is transparent on the ones I had. I went through at least one whole box labelling the soft toys my DC used to insist on taking to nursery (they had to have a nametape attached to their label before they were allowed (by me) to go in) - and in a total of 8 nursery years we only lost one animal.

I have 4 children's worth of Cash's tapes and as my youngest is about to go into the 6th form wearing a suit they will now remain in my sewing box forever!! Feeling weirdly nostalgic for an evening spent guzzling a glass of wine and sewing badly with pricked fingers to show for it! I never got on with the iron ones as they used to come off in the drier but those new tangled clip/pin tags look good.

Keep them Ineedanewmone!!!! I work a lot on building sites and we have "uniform" fleeces and high vis. The fleeces are black with black labels and all look the same hanging up. Can't write on the labels. So I asked my mum if she had any of my name tapes... 25 years after I left school! She spent ages unpicking them from swimming towels and school scarves for me Smile

I still have some (very posh, dark blue cash's, what was DM thinking?) name tapes with my name on. I took them with me to university and labelled team kits, college sweatshirts and the like. Since I did change my name when we got married, they wouldn't be very meaningful any more, unfortunately.

I used a sewing machine for DS's school coat which had a logo. But only because it was one of those generic coats that are designed for logos to be embroidered on and had a special zip to allow access. It's was very very fiddly!

Stealth I do still use my school nametapes even though my name has changed! (DM handed me the remaining supply at some point).
I know whose it is and I can ask at lost property for a hat with that name in it.

I have some of my old Cash name labels which were in my Mum's sewing box. My DC's won't have the pleasure of finding theirs as I use Stikins. Life is too short for sewing labels in when these exist.
