Uniform policy: Trousers must be black. No jeans, jean type, combat type, flared, ‘skinny’ or leggings

She wore them for the first time Friday and was told they weren't in line with uniform policy and if she wasn't in school in the right trousers on Monday then she would either be sent home to change or taught in isolation.

Not skinny, flared, jeans, leggings, jean-type or combat type - as far as I can see, none of those

Sorry, I meant to come back to this but my computer has been messing around.

She ended up with D&V on Sunday night so only went into school today.

I took her into reception, showed them the trousers, they said they were fine, fitted the school policy and lots of girls wore the same ones.

There seems to be a problem with staff all having their own interpretation on what is correct uniform, so, we'll see what happens when she comes in tonight.

I would ask what exactly the issue is with a link to the picture. If they say its the buttons just remove them.

I think it's the buttons. It won't cost you more than a pound to swap them, if you don't have enough from old clothes in the house already

I'd swap the buttons and claim they're different trousers if challenged.

But I have a DD who is a very odd shape to clothe, so I tend to think it goes on and covers up the essentials that's all we can hope for.

I was incredibly strict about uniform when I was a secondary teacher much more so than the others Whig I resented as I was following school policy and they weren't so I looked like the big bad wolf

If these trousers fit your dd the same way they fit the model even I can't find anything wrong with them! We sometimes had button issues but these were the shiny ones that went in a row down to the crotch, thus drawing attention to it, given that that particular style was really tight as well, but even that isn't an issue here. I can't see what their issue is!

I don't see what's wrong with them either. I would definitely ask for clarification. YANBU. If they are going to be so picky they need to specify the actual trousers.

I'd want to know exactly what they were objecting to and what they would suggest does fit their criteria.

They look absolutely fine & would fit (pardon the pun) with our school uniform policy (which is quite strict too.)
You need the Head to clarify what is exactly wrong with them.

I think they look too slim for school trousers. They're not cut like a business trouser, really.

If they are going to send her home saying "your trousers are not right" then they really need to explain how they are not right in order that she can get some trousers are are "right".

Is your DD very skinny, if so the trousers might look like a skinny fit even if they are loose. IYSWIM.

The trousers are exactly the type my DDs used to wear, they are smart, comfy and plain.

I would complain.

I think they are very smart. I would write a letter to the head with a print out from the website and a print out of the policy and say "on a purely objective basis these trousers are neither X nor Y nor Z and therefore appear to comply with your policy. If you are going to arbitrarily object to trousers that meet the policy but you, or individual members of staff just don't subjectively like the look of, may I suggest that you consider specifying a particular cut and brand of trouser as part of the uniform policy. Until you do so, my daughter will be wearing these trousers to school."

They wouldn't be allowed at my school, our code says no fashion trousers, which is obviously what the OP's school is aiming for, but not clearly enough.

But they can't be after boot cut trousers because the policy says no flared! I think the trousers look perfect for school. Maybe it's the buttons ?. I think you need to ask them specifically what is wrong with them.

You need to have this conversation with the school. Personally, I buy 5 pairs of school trousers and if they were deemed unsuitable that's a lot of money for me to lose.

I think it's the buttons and does look a bit tight. They should provide examples of what they require.
