Aibu to think Katie Hopkins is a total and utter snob?

Having just watched a video posted by a friend on Facebook of Katie Hopkins on This Morning, I have come to the conclusion she is a unashamed snob. She said she would avoid letting her children having play dates with other children based on their names. I don't know if anyone else saw this, and well done to Holly Willobooby for sticking up for all the mums out there who call their children what they want.
She used the name Tyler (sorry to anyone if that's not how you spell it) to emphasise her pathetic point. She actually had the gall to say that the name denotes what type of person they are - she meant class and that certain members of society choose specific names for their children based on their intelligence as parents and where they sit in the social scale. I am so angry by her ignorant assumptions and feel sorry for her children for missing out from getting to know people from all backgrounds. I just thought what a stuck up, narrow minded cow you are!

I do think she is right that people judge others by their names whether they want to admit it or not. Some names will be perceived less well than others. Tarquin isn't perceived any better than anything -Mae. The Baby Names board on MN stands testament to that.

Her attitude towards working class people is what is vile and offensive here,no that she judges people on names per se.

I do feel desperately sorry for her children though - parents of their peers are going to see the dismal witch airing her pathetic views and think "I'm not having my child mix with her children, they'll be utter snobs and weirdos too!" Social death for the poor children.

She has said something totally vile about ginger babies this morning. I am quite upset as pregnant (with a very likely to be ginger baby) and hormonal!

Thing is, her poor children are far from faultless and are being exposed to much more negativity by her putting them in the public eye than she can give, and so it's really backfiring.

I watched this and thought she was playing a part. I also thought that despite what she was saying there was a chummy rapport between her and Phillip and Holly. They're paying her to be controversial/have a strong opinion.

There's not a million miles between her and the truth; there are some mothers that will 'engineer' friendships for their children, because they like the parents, because they're close by whatever. When my DS started school children from the am and pm nursery were mixed. I was v surprised when he was asked to a party with two others from his group to a child they barely knew. I'm pretty sure the mother was engineering the friendship.

To be honest, she's just being practical - she can earn more doing this sort of thing than she can in her 'normal' job.

I would echo what some have said. She gets paid to rile people, paid a fair bit for a guess. It's a bizarre phenomenon, following in the Shona Sibary/Samantha Brick/Liz Jones type of journalism.

I would personally find alienating myself to vast swathes of the nation, really pretty depressing. Then again, if I was being paid enough to live in a bubble, perhaps it wouldn't bother me so much.

These people give whoever they write for a lot of hits and therefore a lot of revenue. I don't really know why people get so worked up over them TBH, when it's obvious why they say the stuff they do.

I can't stand the woman but watching that video was funny. She was loving every moment and knows how to reel people in. I suppose dh's mum is a milder form of KH. She's very judgemental and dh despairs. She may have raised him but he doesn't share her snobby views and regularly calls her out on her behaviour. Lets hope KH's children do the same.
