So far we have not had sky tv.
Dh suggested we get the family bundle but I think we have more than enough as have free view, love film and get some movies from blinkbox.Plus I feel that Dc aged 15 & 9 watch enough tv.Are we missing out on some fab viewing or not?
What do you think?

Don't have sky, don't want sky. Have you view so can do all the digital recording, pausing live telly etc stuff.
I hate that some people who have it imply that if you don't have it, it is because you can't afford it. We could easily afford it, but DON'T WANT IT!!! How is it that some people just can't understand that other people might not want the same things as them?

Sigh.

When i lived at home we never had sky, so i wasnt bothered when i moved out. My boyfriend wanted it for the sport and movies so we looked into it and its so bloody expensive! We ended up getting netflix instead which we use so much, and if there is any major sport thing on he tends to go to his mates house/pub and make a night of it. And i dont have to suffer it! Bonus!

We got rid of Sky 8 months ago after having for more than 10 years, we just couldn't afford it any more. My dad bought us a FreeSat box for Christmas and I can say I really don't miss Sky at all. The one thing I missed before getting the FreeSat box was being able to record and the kids like to be able to pause the TV, but now we've got the box it's like having Sky without the cost. Although I do cheat a little as I download the programmes I like that are on the Sky channels, usually when they first come out in the US so get to watch them before Sky anyway.

couldn't make the sky salesman understand that I wasn't bothered! I have a recordable freeview box and struggle to find time to watch the things I have recorded. My ds is into f1 and all sports, if we had sky me and dd would not get a look in. Told the salesman kids watch enough telly as it is and that I wasn't bothered. He said I could record all my soaps and never miss an episode. Told him I don't watch soaps. He said there will always be something to watch, said I don't mind reading a book if there is nothing on. He gave up and left!

We have never wanted Sky. We have loads of stuff that we have recorded and haven't had time to watch (we love crime drama). We don't need Sky and find the number of channels we already have access to is more than sufficient.

I love Sky. I know it's each to their own but I wouldn't be without it, my sort of TV just isn't on the BBC or ITV enough.

We did have sky (just the basic package, no sport or films). We got rid of it because of all the adverts and repeats. We now have Freeview and are quite happy with just that. Plenty for all on there and you can record what you want and fast forward the adverts.

And saved £25 a month into the bargain.

We got rid of Sky and just have YouView and Netflix now, it's loads better. The sky on demand is shite!

It does fund the Rupert Murdoch empire.

We don't have Sky and I don't feel the need for it, I wouldn't justify the extra money tbh. Unless you feel that freeview isn't enough for you then why bother?

I say 'recently' but come to think of it it must've been over a year ago now!

We have no intention of getting it. We used to have cable in our first flat because it was a deal with broadband and phone, but when we moved the new place wasn't cabled IYSWIM so we just didn't have it, and we don't miss it. Recently replaced our ancient TV in time for digital and it has freeview in it - more than enough. We barely watch actual telly though, prefer DVDs.

We got Sky 6 months ago and love it, could never go back to Freeview.
We watch the movies and enjoy the drama eg G.o.T. The other day I did remark that there's still a load of shit on the telly but like my DH pointed out "yes, but now we have more shit"

It's essential here - DH and DS are sport mad - they'd have it on 24/7 if DD and I didn't protest !

We have Sky. You sort of have to if sport is important to the family. And it is; very. We don't watch all the other stuff that we have to pay for apart from a few series that we would be happy to wait for when they air on freeview.

For films and DVD exTV drama we think Lovefilms is fine.

We had sky but got really fed up with it. For us there seemed to be a LOT of repeats (same as normal tv really so why pay for the same)... the movie channels were good at first but once you've seen a few it seems samey as new movies don't come on often.

We went back to freesat (we are rural so the picture is better than freeview) and haven't looked back.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who doesn't want sky.

As long as I have East Enders I'm happy. [shallow]

I did think of getting it for F1, but just thought it was ridiculously expensive.

I wasn't very impressed with netflix.
