AIBU?

to go to bed at 10pm when I am a fully grown adult

in good health atm, who will not have to get up before 7am?

Just seems incredibly childish to me. Bed at 10am is for people who have to get up early or who will have to deal with babies during the night.

10am is way to early for a perfectly healthy fully functioning grown up. Isn't it?

10pm is our usual bed time, but we do get up at 6 during the week. I am well known for having at least one night a week where I go to bed at about 7pm. I don't go straight to sleep but like to be up there with my stuff around me chilling out.

Last Sunday I went to bed at 9.30pm, but this was a combinatiion of having had a late party night the night before and also expecting the electric meter to run out any minute. I am generally a night person who would much rather stay up till 2am and get up around 9.30, so most nights I go to bed around midnight because I have to get up at 7.40.

If DP is working away on a Mon or Tues, I go to bed at 9pm. It's lovely. Bed, my book and the cat.

Oh how I truly lament the loss of my 10pm bedtime and 7am wake-up! I can only hope that DS conforms one day Grin

No, it's not childish to go to bed at 10pm - why do you ask?

Nope, YADNBU. My alarm goes off at 6. Some nights I go out stay up till 1ish, others I'm in bed by 8:30-9ish. I rarely sleep before 11, but I love my horrifically expensive bed, so if I've just changed the sheets and there's a good book/programme on tv, I'll go to bed super early... I love being a grown up! I go around 11.pm.. more like 11.30pm before I am actually laying down to go to sleep.

I cherish my evenings, I get 2 hours without any children and feel like it's a waste going to bed.

I am always tired though and probably should go to sleep earlier.

Ohhhh. DD is 8 months old and not yet got the hang of sleeping anywhere but next to me. I long for the day I can go to bed at ten and read for an hour, preferably with the promise I won't be woken up again before 7.
God, there might even be nooky one day!

No? I often go to bed before 10 pm - so does DH. I'm obviously having a rare late grown-up night tonight though...

YANBU at all. But is someone telling you that you are?

I aim to be in bed by 10 normally because DP has to be up at 6 and his alarm wakes me up. I like my sleep!

I go to bed at 10am on a fairly regular basis (I then get up at 5pm and leave for work at 8.30pm). Tonight I'm in bed by 10pm so I can get up for 6am.

10 pm is my usual bedtime, I am only up now because we have been to the pub, will be toddling up soon.

I quite often go earlier, I don't think it's childish, I need my sleep.

I do this too! I feel ridiculous as well. I love to be in bed by 10.15 to 10.30 then read for around half an hour, lights out by 11.15 and asleep by 11.30 tops. That way I get 8 hours before getting up at 7.30 for the kids, but another hour would do me nicely. I really think i do need 9 hours.

But NO ONE else I know does this, unless they have to be up at 7am or earlier, or have babies who wake through the night.

I wonder if i am just a bit lazy.....

You are tired, so go to bed!!! Some nights I go to bed at 9pm and get up at 8am... some nights I go to bed at 3am and get up at 8am... just depends on what I am doing, where I am, and how tired I feel.

Yeah, the AM thing alone should tell you that you need sleep, go to bed!

Report
CambridgeBlue · 23/06/2013 22:08

Assuming you don't go to sleep at 10 but at say 11 then by getting up at 7 you're having the standard 8 hours sleep. Those are about he hours I keep and I struggle to manage on any less sleep - really not sure how I did it when DD was young or I used to go partying until the small hours! I think some people just need more sleep although I do envy friends who can sit up until late and still feel fine next morning, I could do with a few more hours in the day!

10pm is my usual bedtime - I'm about to go (when I can tear myself away from MN)

One night recently I was so knackered I went to bed at 6.20pm. I obviously needed it as I slept through to 8am!

Being an adult means you can stay up all night if you want or go to bed really early. So do what you want!
