AIBU?
To Be Sad Selling My Little Girl's Baby Clothes
VikkiiKawaii · 16/06/2013 21:20
I'm feeling a little bit sad at the moment because I'm starting to write up the eBay listing for my little girl's baby clothes and part of me wants to keep them all but I know that they are taking up room we could use to store her bigger clothes (I buy her clothes ahead of time). I've sorted through and kept all my most favourite things and anything unisex (we're planning to have more).
Is it unreasonable for me to be sad about selling her baby things and her not really being a baby anymore?

Yanbu I haven't been able to part with any of dd's baby clothes and have put them all into suitcases by age and put them in the loft.
Dp isn't impressed because I too buy her clothes in advance so we have those in the bottom of her wardrobe waiting for her to grow .
Next thing to be packed away are some of her toys incase I ever have another baby.

I don't know anyone else who's got a little girl at the moment. I'm planning to put some of it on freecycle or free pages but we can't afford to give much away without it meaning we can't afford to buy her clothes (all of them come from eBay/charity shops as it is!)

I know just how you feel, when my ds grew out of the crib part of his pram and I had to put the seat part on I had a few tears! Every time I have to put something away as its too small and I can remember when it was too big...
Just thinking what if you have another little girl though? I'm keeping my ds clothes for now as wanting more dc. Would be lovely to see another child in them? I find those space bags great, can get loads in and vacuum out the air, pop in the loft as they keep out the dirt and moths etc?

My kids have memory boxes, I'm far to disorganised for books etc. it's a chuck it in system . In there I have the truly special stuff in vacumn pick bags along with certificates and artwork and birthday cards. You do have to part with some stuff or it gets out of control very fast (i learnt this the hard way when trying to move house with a 4 and 2 yr old.) but keep a few bits for possible just for memories seperate to the stash for hypothetical babies.

I know that you've said they are taking up room, but if you are planning on having more, wouldn't it be prudent to keep them? How are they stored? I stored mine in those vacuum bags things so they didn't take up too much room.
But I know what you mean about feeling sad, I was so annoyed and upset when I came home one day to find that DH had given away our pram to a local charity shop along with a load of clothes, cot, car seat, Moses basket etc., etc. So many memories were tied up in those things. To make it worse I unexpectedly became pregnant two months later and all our stuff had been sold. Had to buy a load of stuff again to replace what we'd given away.

I'd keep them all but I haven't really got the space unless I put them down the possibly leaky basement, which seems to make things feel a little damp. Basically a lot of them are being sold to make room for the bigger clothes I need to start storing for her.
