So I was driving to work, when I heard someone sound their horn loudly. I looked across and this lorry driver was pomping his horn at the woman in front of him. She had stopped at the traffic lights (on green) as the traffic at the other side of the junction had backed up. He then nearly took her back end out and undertook her, and then cut her up. I saw her face and she looked really shocked.

Then he sped up and slammed on so hard in front of her that I thought he had hit the car in front. He them got out of his cab and started yelling at her.

Anyway I saw the name of his company on his lorry. I wouldn't normally have done anything, but him getting out of his cab must have been so scary, so I emailed his company to tell them what I had seen. They asked me to ring them, which I did. They knew who it was and were getting him in to talk to him about the incident.

Thought I had done the right thing, but then a colleague asked me whether I was satisfied that I had probably lost the guy his job. Should I have minded my own business?

YANBU - I can see two possible outcomes here. Either this incident is completely out of character, but he's trying to cope with problems either in or out of work, in which case it'll be a prompt to get him any help he needs, and may save his sanity. Or he's acted like a cock before, in which case you may have saved the life/health of the people he could have killed or maimed in his next road rage incident.

Either way, if he reacts like this he should be off the road, either till he's able to drive safely, or permanently. Not your fault. His.

Of course you did the right thing.
As previous poster says, his behaviour may have lost him his job; it wasn't you at the wheel.

A car drove at me and my two youngest children the other day when we were walking down a rural lane. You can bet your bottom dollar that if there had been a logo or any other identifying marks on his vehicle i would have reported it. (he was going too fast for me to get the reg and my dc were my only concern)
Then he did a handbrake turn and tried to spin in the road and shouted abuse.
Total twonk. There are lots of them on the road unfortunately.

This guy could have hurt the innocent woman with his crazy driving. Next time he could actually kill someone! You are truly doing the right thing.

He needs to take responsibility for his own poor behavior and dangerous driving. He chose to behave unacceptably in a massive lorry whilst representing a specific company
