Working ridciulously late last night and finished work at 1am (ish) - on the way home I drove by a 24 hour Tesco, I hadn't eaten dinner so I thought I would quickly go in and get something small to eat.

Go into the carpark (it was virtually dead) - there were about 10 P&C parking spaces with only one occupied. Parked there, went in store, was out in less than 10 minutes.

Got back to my car at the same time as the other owner of the other car had finished strapping a baby in and she asked me - wheres your child then? You do know that space is only allowed for parents with young children?

.. I started to reply and then she called me an ignorant cow and got in her car.

I was a bit shocked by it and thought that was a total over reaction.

You get fined £100 at our local Asda if you park in a c&p space without a child.

At the very most they could persue someone through the courts to try to obtain damages for the loss that was incurred.

Exactly Shelly. And LST has shown exactly why those shysters continue to get away with their practices. They make invoices look like fines and people don't question them.

YANBU, at 1am very very few people will be out with children, I have managed to avoid it with my DCs so far and don't know anyone else in RL who have had to do that fortunately so I really can't see the issue.

There is no need to park in them normally unless obviously you have children with you, have any sort of disability including crutches or such like or for any other genuine reason. Just because they are not a legal right doesn't mean people should be inconsiderate but late at night it is irrelevant!

If she was out at 1am with a small babyshe is likely to be very tired and probably overeacted!

BTW our Asda say they issue 'fines' but we all know you don't have to pay them.

I don't believe that P&C spaces should be available to those who have chosen to sit on it rather than suck it.

I'm going to borrow lots of children and gently place them smack bang in the middle of every P&C parking space I can find.

I think he was being very unreasonable.

If I was out with my baby at 1am I certainly would have been very grumpy indeed and would have bitched at everyone who witnessed me out when babies should be in bed. I probably would also have bitched about the self-scan tills saying "unexpected item in the bagging area" when there wasn't, refusing to give the 20p discount on the two broccolis, and there being no-one available in customer services to sort it out.
