No I'm not being serious but I've got a mouse loose about my house and the bastard thing has eaten through my rivetas that I was saving for a saturday eve treat instead of chocolate and I've chewed through the kids cheerios and pasta and savoury rice and cake mix

My mum had loads of poison down.But it didn't seem to work.I don't think it touched it either.I'm glad he wasn't poisoned to death

I remember my mum had a mouse she had tried to get rid of it for ages.When i went down next to see her i seen it on her curtain pole then it climbed down the curtain and onto the window seal..I got a peice of paper and opened the window and shoed it's little bum out of the window with the paper and then a cat ran up the garden.Think it was safe the say it was a goner.

no method is humane, but I reckon snap spring traps are the best death is usually quick as most go head first for bait, if not dead you need to put in a bag and hit back of head sharply with rolling pin not pleasant but really the kindest thing to do

humane ones that you release far away make you feel better but are not humane, a house mouse is unlikely to survive in the wild, no family, hostile territory so maybe forced out by resident group, if the mouse had babies they will starve in the house

poison takes a few days to work, etc so if you have mice and have to get rid of them spring traps are the kindest

Sorry domino, faced with a choice of no electricity and huge bill to re wire the house or kill a few mice, the mice loose every time. That and finding mouse shit everywhere. We have a cat, but she's an old lady and pretty damn useless.

We don't get mice, but we do get rats sometimes. (We have a river in our garden)

We shoot them - they like the bird table so quite easy to target.

We had a mice infestation in the house we were renting. It became a nightmare for us. One night i had one crawl over me as i lay upright(sitting) asleep after coming out of hospital. I was horrified that i didn't go back to sleep and couldn't wait for daylight. I bought one of those 'sensors' that's supposed to scare them away. I didn't work. I could still hear them gnawing away in the crevice and in between my neighbour's walls. I did see several of them after that and must say they were so cute. My neighbour who also had the same problem kept telling me to buy those sticky boards, but i couldn't stand the thought of seeing them stuck on it, it turned my stomach so we just lived with them until we moved. Now we don't worry about bleaching down every part of the kitchen before breakfast and can leave things on the side as well as sleep in peace.
Couldn't put down any poison as i had a 2 year old who was into everything. Thing is, before discovering the mice my daughter was still crawling around the floor as 2 year olds do and she ended up in hospital with diahorrea and vomiting for 4 days. I suspect she ate something from the floor, which could have been soiled by the mice......gag

My friends cat deposited a badly injured bat on her face at 4am. (They live in the country) The poor thing was screeching in pain. It is illegal to kill them, it's also near impossible as well apparently.

The problem with poison is that it quite often advertises itself as being "instant" and "humane". The stuff I bought certainly did and I assumed it was telling the truth. I worry putting live shrews (the cats bring them in but don't kill them as they taste nasty) back out in the garden as I know that if I get it wrong (i.e. front or back) they will be killed by other shrews.

I actually resent being referred to as "disgusting" and "cruel" Domino; I am neither.

We have done all types of traps, I wouldn't say the humane one was rubbish.

The problem with dropping live mouse miles away is that you've removed them from their family & they are straight into hostile mouse territory; hostile colony will attempt to kill them. Their chances of survival are thin. Assuming you haven't dumped your pest on someone else's property to breed & annoy them.

Plus if it's a female mouse, she may have left her babies behind so they're dead, too. I don't think there are many humane choices in mouse control.

I am genuine surprised how many people use snap traps and poison. But I am not judging, having a serious mouse problem isn't fun.
I just hope this little fella survives when I drop him off a few miles away near DS gymnastics class later.

I have a live mouse in my trap!
Only had one humane trap in so set that up and after what everyone has said I wasn't expecting to find a mouse in it! And an alive one at that. Used it years ago and found a dead mouse in it.
Do u think this mouse with have friends? Or is it just as likely to be a lone ranger?

We tried a couple of those humane traps - it just chewed its way out of them. It also chewed through a box of cayenne pepper

We had to get a killer trap in the end Nothing else worked.

We used humane traps ( on request of our veggie lodger!)for a while. My DH was in charge of taking them to the local park . we caught 3 or so until one day he took one , thought he'd got rid of it ,went home to reset the trap and a little whiskery head popped out! Never seen him jump so far!

We then started using a plastic snap trap caught about 3 and except when we leave the kitchen messy we never catch them now!
Is so much easier baiting catching and killing them with the snap traps!

I don't think any 'normal' human being wants to kill another living thing, but if it's a case of despatching a few critters by trap or my DD's health & wellbeing (when we had a proper infestation she was 2 and into everything) then it's no contest I'm afraid.

I will even catch spiders and transfer then to the garden quite happily, but once I found evidence of mice getting all over my kitchen, there was very little I wouldn't have done to get shot of them tbh.

so i poisened them i read online that even if you catch them and them throw them out - they are very clever and can find their way back up to a mile or something - so i killed them

I once trapped a mouse in a conventional mousetrap. It caught its nose at 3am and the screams will never leave me and I am not squeamish. It was horrible. I had to drown it in the kitchen sink.

We used the traditional traps, were quite anti the poison for all the above reasons. Til the little shits chewed through the wires and we had no electricity downstairs over Christmas, no heating or hot water either. Since using the poison, not had any problems..

Domino humane traps are not humane. It just gives you the good feeling of the mouse running off to enjoy his new life, while he starves to death somewhere foreign. A mile away is a whole different world to a mouse. If someone shoved you in a car and dumped you in the middle of the French countryside with no wallet, phone or food would you think it was humane?
