I'm not a vegetarian, but I can't stand the smell out taste of bacon. Any time this comes up in conversation I'm made to feel like I'm in a strange and unreasonable minority, but I'm sure I'm not the only one to hate it's porky vileness!

Am I?

JellyBelly, I like bacon but your post against bacon was really eloquent.

OP, where do you stand on sausages?

Bacon is horrible, both the smell and taste does nothing for me but everyone else thinks I'm a freak. The smell of bacon was the only thing that made me sick when I was pregnant. Just nasty!

I like bacon if it is not over-cooked. Couldn't eat a whole plateful or eat it day in , day out but I do like it when I have it.

I've been a vegetarian for over thirty years now and have yet to fall prey to bacon's siren call. I think it smells quite nice but not enough to actually sample any. :)

Sorry to worry you Softly! It's not all beef sausages, and I now know to check before I buy rather than after eating. But it really annoys me, I did think at the time 'well it's not so bad for me because I just don't eat pork because I hate it, but what if I'd been Muslim? Or allergic?'

bunny that first picture made me want to lick my phone. Yum. Only crispy never "peely wally." It's vile when a bit of not-quite-chewed -properly uncrispy fat hangs down the back of your throat as you desperately decide whether to cough it back up or swallow harder to force it down!

Ha ha. Don't they have bacon with pancakes in the US? We'd be like Jack Spratt and his wife.

Pancakes Shock.

Well, I'd expect nothing less from a bacon eater!

Have been veggie over 20 years and have never liked bacon. The smell actually makes me vomit and the grease on it looks vile. DH only has it if I am outside and he has to air out kitchen.

DMIL was a bacon eating veggi

ie the mother of a strict veggi, who was happy to eat the same food as her DD, most of the time.

I like bacon but YANBU..... I have to whisper that I don't like pancakes as there is always a horrified reaction.

I really like bacon. But I've been put on a low-salt diet for health reasons and can't eat it. It's terrible, I don't know how I will survive without a bacon sandwich (or for that matter, salted chips, fish, crisps....the list is endless)

Ok breathe I just checked online and is fine.

Oh and op YABU bacon is irreplaceable, I fully expect it to be the rule DCs choose to break first when they get one enough to choose Grin

Naoko Shock nooooooooooooooo

Are you serious about the beef sausages? ? I feed them to my Muslim DH and my undecided DCs.

Fuck

I often claim to be a vegetarian if asked for dietary preferences. It seems to cause my hosts much less hassle than 'no pork'. Maybe I should try to make more muslim or jewish friends. I went on holiday to Turkey once, it was great, not a pig product in sight, never had to read every tiny bit of the menu to make sure no pork was involved in a dish that looked nice at first glance.

I have been a vegetarian for thirteen years, and I stopped eating pork about sixteen years ago. I was never that keen on bacon either, or rashers, as we used to call them in Ireland. Even Quorn bacon smells and looks too much like the real thing for me. Yuk!

ClippedPhoenix - its a silly thread about a silly subject . You're right though, I don't care about your thoughts on lentils. I weave them. Grin

YANBU. I'll eat bacon to be polite, but it's my least favourite meat by far. It's all salty and fatty and leathery.

Beautifully crispy bacon, crusty white bread, shredded iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and lashings of Heinz mayonnaise.

But each to their own and I respect those who don't eat it for whatever reason.

Yadnbu. It stinks. My stomach turns when I smell bacon cooking. Takes a lot of self control to not throw up anymore. Then there's the amount of fat and grease. Yuk. Given the choice between bacon, well pork in general, I would rather starve. It is not religious reasons. It stems back from seeing something as a child.

When we have this chat in work, them saying oohh such and such does a lovely bacon butty, and I say no, I am looked at like I have 3 heads. It's mad really. Religious reasons, noone batters an eye lid. Personal choice and you are some weirdo.

It's vile and bacon butties are worse than devils testicles.

Devil's testicles are rather nice, I find. With ketchup, obviously Grin
