I had a car accident a few months ago which resulted in whiplash which took some months to clear completely and I'm still nervous at the round about where the crash happened. Have had a call from the guilty parties solicitor offering compensation, hasn't been going to claim as I don't like the whole where there's a blame stuff. Don't even know how much I'd get but as a lone parent trying to retrain for a new career any cash would be helpful.

Hi op, so sorry to hear about your injuries and worse your flash backs to approaching the island where the crash happened. Totally understandable.

Check your insurance and see if you have legal cover. If not please contact a reputable company not an 'ambulance chaser'

Our dd was badly injured in feb in a school coach crash, it was featured on national and international news and the calls we got from insurance companies and the press were disgusting even though our identities were supposed to be protected as dd is a child. Be careful.

If you pm me I can let you know our solicitors name.

It's definitely the other party's insurance company they've sent me letters there from Churchill. They said they'd contacted me as it would save them legal fees and because it would save them legal fees they would offer me their top offer first rather than negotiating with lawyers. I was genuinely injured accident happened about 4 months ago and I'm only just fully recovered so now they want to settle.

That's me bowing out then on actual legal advice - Scottish law is completely different to English. But if you've still got travel anxiety, I'd be instructing your own solicitor.

Their top offer won't be their first, ds negotiated his up from £900 to £1500. (And they paid more for the written-off car than we'd bought it for a few months prior.)

Also in Scotland.

I get cold calls and texts all the time about my accident. I havent had an accident. I'm at least worth 5k, apparently, for my non existant accident

There was big screed in the papers about these companies, the ph numbers are auto generated in a callcentre, ever person that answers, thus validates their number is 'live' gets sold on to more companies, eventually one will hit the spot.

In that case the decision is yours over what you want to do. If the offer is genuine, and has been given in writing, then you can accept or seek your own legal advice. In cases where the effects of the accident haven't completely resolved, it's always a gamble you take, if you accept, as a year down the line you might still be suffering and therefore due more compensation. Have you been to your GP about the travel anxiety? You can get a referral for counselling etc. that can help you get over that. If its something that will help, you can ask Churchill to arrange this treatment at their expense.
