and that although I know that they are tricks, there is a teeny weeny part of me that suspects he might have sold his soul to the devil in order to do this stuff! Confused

We saw dynamo in London last year. Just walking back to Waterloo and someone said (crew member) come and watch some magic and was just gathering passers by at random. It was dynamo though i had seen or heard of him before then. He did a clever trick taking drinks from people in the crowd - a bottle of fanta and a can of coke - and swapping the contents. You could see the colour change and people tasted them. It was amazing to see. And yes I suppose the drinks were probably planted but its still incredible and I couldn't explain it even knowing that. Was on telly and we were in the background with the DS's too! Magic!

Right, Derren Brown, how did he manage to throw a women who had some basic training in escapology, into a freezing lake, bound and locked in a sack and she managed to get out! Just how?

They don't pay onlookers, I know that much. It's just clever trickery in the main.
In the first series my son played the young Dynamo, gazing at expensive cars :)

Poor guy has terrible chrons disease. I'm a nurse and the poor guy looks poorly to me. He is underweight.
Consequently I think he is amazing.

Oh, and that reminds me, I need some more tape for my label maker...

I, too, am freaked out by him. Whether it is real or not is irrelevant...

Good luck to him, boy from very simple background, but I really don't like magic too much. It freaks me out...

Who the fuck is dynamo?!

I think I am out of the loop as I thought this thread was about label makers. Blush

Dp refuses to watch it as it isnt real magic

I'm with your Dp. Dynamo's 'tricks' can mostly be boought from any magic shop and the ones that can't are camera tricks.

If you wander around a city centre with a pack of cards and ask random strangers to pick one and every time you say, "your card is the three of clubs", eventually someone will go, "OMG how did you do that?" That's the one that will be shown on TV.

If you wander around a city doing the same with a svengali deck your 'hit rate' will be 50%.

If you want to see 'real magic' just go to you tube and watch Penn and Teller do the cups and balls trick with transparent cups. Even though you can see the sleight of hand it is still impressive.

If you want to do dynam's tricks follow the link to where you can buy them

He did a trick on my sister in Selfridges in Manchester. He took her necklace, swallowed it and made it reappear from his belly button. Very cool. Just enjoy being perplexed. I hate those Magic Revealed shows.

I like him, irrelevant of real/not real, it's entertainment.

There is a clear walkway under the water. The kayakers are part of the 'cast', if you watch very very carefully again you can see they actually have to push a little harder to cross right where the platform would be.

For the police boat at the end, there are divers to pull the platform down so that it looks like there is nothing there.

If you watch the water itself closely throughout the trick you can see that there is something causing a slight reef effect. He also has his arms out for balance the whole time, which of course if you could walk on water, all of the surface of the water would be available to you, as the ground is.

Still a cool trick!

I enjoy figuring them out as much as I enjoy being impressed by them. Grin

Nope can't see that but am prepared to believe you

How's the walking on water one done?
My first thought was something just below the level of water but the Kayaks la go past and though they have a shallow draught, not that shallow and their paddles go deeper too

Psssh I can't take him seriously since I saw him duff up his trick on Johnathan(sp?) Ross when the camera caught the goldfish sliding out of his sleeve hahahahaha.

The man standing behind and to the left of him has a bottle with a phone in it. If you watch really really carefully you can see the moment they exchange.

As I said, tricks are cool in their own right - he does rely quite heavily on the reactions of the people around him to give the impression of magic.

When he can do it, naked, alone, in an empty room other than me standing right in front of him, then I will believe it is 'magic' and be freaked out.
