AIBU?

...to think I might be pregnant?

I've had a chest infection/heavy cold for about 2 weeks and am over a week late. I'm never normally late - not even a day but I don't have any other pregnancy related symptoms.

DP and I have decided to start trying next year so the timing wouldn't be great as we could be in a better position financially.

AIBU to think I need to POAS or is it possible that this god awful cold has just messed up my cycle!?

Thanks for your kind words. I'm feeling a little relieved this morning. I want to be in the best position I think we can be to provide for a baby and am a great believer that it will happen when the time is right! I don't think I would like the added stress of outstanding debts whilst pregnant. Definitely trying to look at it positively today!

I Am sorry to hear that OP. Although maybe you get abit more financial breathing space. But if the negative made you more sad, maybe forget about the monies and go at it for it.

I'm sorry OP Sad Maybe it's helped clarify what you want though?

Thank you both. I'd said myself it wasn't the right time. At least I'll feel better money wise when it does happen Smile.

Hopefully it's just the cold messing things up!

I sorry :( Your time will come and you and your DP can have fun trying.

I'm not sure about the lack of period, maybe leave it another week and go to the dr if you still havn't started your bleeding.

Well...just done the test and it was negative. I feel really sad actually but it must be for the best.

Do I need to worry that I've had no period and not pregnant?

Antoinette - thank you, I know you are right - would just like to pay the credit card off first haha! I feel I have been ready forever and as a couple we are too, we are very happy together, we both have good jobs and own our home. The next step may have just come sooner than expected!

Ooh, ooh, a POAS thread! Yeeey! Hope it's the result you want OP Smile (You will never be financially in the right position to have a baby by the way. There's always one more bonus, or promotion, or holiday, or bedroom etc. If you feel ready as a couple, go for it Smile)

Saggy - haha that made me laugh.

I am going to have a walk to the shop later and buy a test so will come back on to update.

AIBU to think I will be a teensy bit upset if it's negative now I've thought about it properly!?

I always get a cold when I get pregnant from week 4/5. I've had 6 pregnancies (2 successful) and got a cold/flu every single time without fail.

I had flu symptoms from 6-12 weeks. They were my ONLY symptoms. Apart from rampant horniness.....

AIBU to want to be pregnant again? What with this and googling Fearne Cotton.

Sounds like you could be pregnant! I had no symptoms till around 7 weeks with my pregnancy, I was expecting to be throwing up and weeping but nope I felt normal.

I have friends who had illness as their 1st pregnancy symptom, I think your immune system lowers so your body cna except the embryo.

POAS!! :)

No I wouldn't suspect pregnancy at all other than the fact my period is late!

Congratulations by the way!

I did suspect when the nausea kicked in but dismissed as not possible (too old).

Report
FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 20/11/2012 10:42

For the first 6/7 weeks I just had cold/flu like symptoms. Blocked nose, coughing, fever, headaches. Around 7/8 weeks I got nausea but no sickness, which was worse depending on how over heated I was. It was only when my breasts starting really hurting around 10 weeks that I started to suspect pregnancy. Now I'm 16 weeks and I still have a cough and am bunged up. I didn't know before hand that so much extra mucus was even a pregnancy symptom.

iwantalittleone · 20/11/2012 10:36

FlaminNora - wow really? Were they the only symptoms you had?

Thanks for all the replies, I think I needed some encouragement!
