There are far to many shit toys on the market today which have no real educational/play value and end up forgotten about/in the bin in no time - all made of crap plastic with eyewatering graphics to entice children.

IMO we had a far better selection of better designed, higher quality toys avaliable when I was young - I'm in my forties.

I have no aversion to computer games or consoles, these a relevant in todays society however, I despair at the mountains of crap out there.

Do not, under any circumstances, get any form of lip gloss making kit - regardless if for a girl or a boy. Urgh! It was awful - it was so messy and gloopy it was untrue. I can normally cope with mess, but this was such a nightmare. No idea what final product was like as it was so messy the whole lot ended up being binned! Have had friends with similar lip gloss kits - all say same!

Galt used to make the most wonderful toys in terms of imagination/design and a lot were gender neutral.

Galt used Ken Garland Asscociates graphic design for their typography and a lot of their actual toy design.

I don't know whether they sold out, but today their offering bears no resemblance to the product available when I was young and I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

I do however search for their vintage toys and collect them for their stunning visuals

I had loads of Galt Make&Do stuff as a child, and I'm pretty sure it was all gender neuteral. Shame they've changed that tune . Especially when other shops and brands are going in the other direction.

I was flicking through the Avin book this morning and noticed that they do mini tiddliwinks sets. I thought it would make an ideal stocking filler for DS until I looked closer and saw that they do a football themed one for boys and a pink castle themed one for girls. Even tiddliwinks, the most gender-neutral of all the games has been genderised by frigging Avon! Why?! Why did they have to do that?!
