Honestly they are so hard to maintain. I have just been on for 2 weeks and (apart from losing only 5 lb) found it incredibly hard. (mentally, physically and practically)

not every diet is for everyone and low carbing is certainl only as unhealthy as the person doing it wants it to be

rather like being on weight watchers and using all your points for cake Hmm

every person needs an eating plan that will suit them and their lifestyle and i find it singularly unhelpful to say that one way of doing this is wrong becuase it didn't suit you personally.

we all know that the best way to maintain a healthy weight is to eat healthy foodstuff in the right amount of potion sizes - smaller regularly. and excersise regularly

the maths is quite simple

food is fuel - you must burn this fuel - if you eat a lot of fuel and dont burn it - you will get fat.

so seeing as you must be completely dense not to absolutley know this equation - why is it that we have a million pound diet industry?

its becuase its not as bloody easy as that - that's why. some people need group support and different strategies to control their eating and eating patterns

this is one way that works for some people. not all people, but i think its just bad manners to say that low carbing is wrong becuase it didn't work for you

just as it would be insane for me to say that low carbing is the only way to weight utopia becuase it worked for me

4 stone and two years later my friends

Ive stopped gorging myself senseless on refined carbs and changed everything to wholegrain. Also cut out chocolate- lost just under a stone,.

BEST TIP EVER: SLOW CARB (Tim Ferris style)

At each meal 6 days a week you eat a serving of protein (meat/fish/eggs), a serving of pulses (lentils/dhal/beans) and fill your plate up with low carb veggies.

On the 7th day you can eat what you like.

You lose the fat just as fast as low carb, and you are less likely to plateau as your metabolism is constantly fooled by the binge reward day.

You don't go into ketosis.

The extra protein in the pulses keeps you satisfied while also meaning you don't gorge on fat to fill you up.

You don't eat dairy on your slow carb days though... although I have lost weight by having lactofree in my coffee and greek yogurt in raita.

You don't go off plan because every time a food pops into your head, you can write it down and plan to eat it on Saturday.

Eventually your cravings get less and you don't dive bomb into the cherry trifle every time its your day off.

It's a winner!

(I hated Atkins, and Nerys and India's not Idiot proof diet)
