This isnt a major thing but I wanted some feedback because I think I might be being a bit OTT on this one.

Nephew has just started to talk. He can say maybe three or four words. DP's family have taught him to shout "sexy!" at the prompt of a wolf whistle.

Im just a bit Confused about it really, it feels abit weird. And I dont want them to do the same with my DS so obviously these feelings are going to come out when hes at an age where hes talking! I know its a really minor thing! Blush just want to do a straw pole!

Just come back to thread to say that my DS first word was 'shoe' Grin He was obsessed with them (can't imagine where he got that from!) He would play with a pair of shoes for hours!! We even looked for a shoe border to put up in the nursery.

I realised too late that the German word for "digger" might be misunderstood over here...

The sexy thing is completely inappropriate

totally vulgar! But then I wasn't happy when a friend's son who'd just stared school taught my dd (who was 2.5 at the time) to call people "smelly bum" and told her I didn't want to hear her saying it as it wasn't nice to say. She hasn't used it since but I have a feeling I'm probably quite strict about these things.

my mum hates the word jobee she still tells me off for letting DD say it instead of poop but its only because it was easier for her to say when she was toilet training and my DH and i use it in an affectionate way on one another i am super jobee he is big jobee haha random mad moments in this house Grin

DP came home and I mentioned it. Before Id even got started he said, no way is his son saying anything raunchy like that and he'll tell them so if they ever talk like that to DS.

Widow - ditto!

Not helped by FIL thinking the English misunderstanding is a term of endearment!!

I remember the German word for fat - had me and my DM is fits for hours when stuck outside a ferry port in a storm with a German family. I have never been so interested in discussing language in my life. Grin
