My ds's friend referred to me as a MILF repeatedly on FB - I don't use FB but my ds does and was FURIOUS!- there is no way on Earth I'd ever go there but apparently he has felt like that ofr years Hmm Poor lad. I didn't take it as a compliment Grin

From what I gather mumnotmachine, it's said by a younger lad of a woman in her 30/40's

ahem, excuse me, but it doesn't stop at 40 ime thank you very much

back on topic: it's not meant to be insulting but a compliment, a leery one at that. It's the equivalent of a wolf-whistle imo and when you're beyond 40 it's flattering to know you've still got it, even though you do't let on.

I don't like it. Objectifies the person they are referring to as a sex object.

I don't like it.

A few of the guys I work with spent the days after the royal wedding referring to Pippa Middleton as a BILF, they found this extremely funny.

it's a teenage boy / mrs robinson thing... used by boys around 15/16 to refer to women old enough to be their own mother or their freinds' mothers (so around 35yo).

i would never use it because i'm not a 16yo boy. i am 35 and i am not in any way interested in whether or not 16yo boys would ILF me or not.

I agree with belle

Women who see it as a compliment need to examine their self-esteem very carefully

Also anybody who quotes "American Pie" as some sort of social commentary Smile

I never knew what it was til a few years back. What a horrible term
made up by horrible pervy men.

Its vile, take a look at any porn site, there are whole categories dedicated to teenage boys shagging their friends mothers - sick. And i actually quite enjoy porn but this makes me want to throw up

MILF is a term that's grown on me gradually...depends who's saying it TBH, but if it's meant as a compliment, and its from someone young and hot, who am i to object? Wink

When I was pregnant I really wanted to call our DS Wilf. DH told me that's a name for a sexy wizard.

I don't know if he made this up because he didn't like the name or if there is in fact a WILF contingent out there, but it put me right off!

I really began to dislike it when an ex boyfriend, now married and father of two, referred to me as it in a misguided notion that I would find it complimentary and have an affair with him. I haven't even had children yet.

Its a bit like "bint", which is an Arabic term I think but used in a similar derogatory sense which is somehow meant to be complimentary (if you're desperate).

An acquaintance of mine on facebook calls herself and her friend 'milfs' and posts things like 'the milfs are out again tonight'

Do some women feel 'proud' of being called it though? Confused

It just sounds really grubby, somehow, to me anyway.

Yes I remember the scence! At the party they were looking at her photo and drooling and hence was born the MILF.

(Though I never did quite get what was so gorgoeus about her....!)

Yes, coco, that's where I remember it from. Stifler's mum was the original MILF. I don't use the term, but I don't think it's really that bad.

Ooopsadaisy · 21/05/2011 18:38

I am reliably informed that I have been referred to as a MILF.

I am able to laugh it off but can understand why someone would be offended by it.

I suppose I wouldn't have been told, if I was the sort of person to be offended by it though.

It is tacky and I've always thought it was said by men who didn't have that many options really...
