The Mayans (the few who are still around) say that 2012 signals nothing of the kind. I will believe them because I am scared not to .

you did read that in a bad novel, im thinking dan brown! 2012 is an actual perfect alignment of sun moon and us, something else, i dunno. it is meant to indicate a shift in our polar erm, well poles. (i am so like ross off of friends) it also coincides with the "end" of the mayan calendar which has set all the nutters off. although the "end" of their calendar is no different to ours ending on 31st december and then starting again. the revelation part of bible names things that point to the "end of times" they include (mainly) earthquakes, floods, famines etc. all things that are increasing massively now Shock the entire end of times is meant to be an earthquake that shakes the whole earth. or maybe its all just a story. who knows.

Isn't millenium theory based around the idea that Revelation and all its nastiness is due around 2032? The time that this planet has a natural reshuffle anyway? Also that until 'we' recognise that this planet is a 'being' in its own right and can fight back if we smother it, we're all doomed? Or did I read that in a bad novel that I bought at a bargain price from the Banana Book Shop? Confused

I get a bit muddled, which is nice, as any fear only lasts until the next novel/leaflet/poster I see.

O.M.G. Shock

Don't tell me things like that, scaredy cat, yes - but I am gullible too. I have heard certain theories and some scare me silly, but sometimes I am a complete dizzy bird.

Will believe any random crap.........Grin

She's a massive freaking LizardLady with scary eyes and no soul.

Maybe IABU to think her extinction wouldn't be a bad thing. I'm usually rather fluffy too, part of the reason I don't like her, she makes me have bad thoughts.

Anyway.... back to Ma Earth's vengence!

cassie - it is probably a load of all crap like it all has been before, it is just that so many things that are meant to happen, are happening! but then i have certain faith beliefs that other would (probably rightly!) think are nutty!

When in doubt I turn to Prof Cox, and he says we're okay, at the moment, in general. Wink

I don't want to get into theories because then I come over all funny, although I am planning a MASSIVE Christmas 2011 because well, it may be out last. If not, it'll be even bigger in 2012!

aldiwhore (awesome name btw!) the atlantis programme spooked me, i had to have an extra glass of wine (hic). my good friend is OBSESSED with the 2012 theory, i have looked into it quite a lot and it does make scary sense but of course we have to bear in mind that planetary alignments have happened zillions of times before. apparently the last big one was the one that knocked out the dinosaurs (sp). I guess when "we" are in the time frame "we" tend to project it all upon ourselves. who knows Confused

It doesn't scare me particularly as most of these quakes have been 'predicted' for some time and we hear more about it because there's more people living in areas that every few thousand years become a little dicey. The planet is always changing. My sciency friends know all the ins and outs and they don't seem too concerned (though obviously its horrific for anyone involved).

Another part of me thinks its just Mama Nature showing us who's boss and what she's capable of if we don't buck our ideas up.

Actually, its a bit scary isn't it? I shouldn't have watched the Time Team Atlantis special last night either.

Tell me about it! I am living in Christchurch, New Zealand. In the last 10 months we have had to huge earthquakes (7.2 and 6.3), more than 5000 aftershocks so far. Last week there was a tornado in Auckland, and severe floods in the Hawke's Bay. That is only one country! I won't start with volcanoes and earthquakes in Chile, more earthquakes and tsunami, and nuclear scare in Japan, floods and fires in Australia, now Spain... What next???
