Dp works from 6am untill 3pm, he gets home at 3.30.

I have just started a new job working 4pm till 8pm.

We have done this to help save money on childcare and as it was the only job I could find working part time. My dilemma is this; me and dd have breakfast and lunch as usual. However now I leave the house as soon as dp walks through the door we don't get evening meals together. Nor do I cook as I have lunch at 12.

What does everyone else in this situation do? I am worried we are all not eating enough veg meat and proper meals.

We do t eat till seven thirty when kids are in bed so if yr dh can get dc in bed to give home time to start cooking I'd eat when you get home from work together. Also amen to the slow cooker. I got one in feb and IRS brilliant
Done birianis. Stews. Spag Bol and chilli all to delicious outcomes I love it

Can your DP cook dinner while you're at work, and have it ready for when you come in? Or is that too late for you do eat?

In your situation, I'd probably have my main/cooked meal at lunchtime (I often do this anyway), then just a snack or light meal in the evening.

fish and salad - as fish is quick to cook - so you have yours at luch time and your dh makes his at tea time - you put a jkt pot in the oven for him before you leave for work to go with meal.

slow cooker curry and you eat at lunch and then leave the rest int he slow cooker for your dh and he cooks his rice later when he wants supper.

slow cooker roast, you cook chicken and the vegs and make roasts and yorkshires, the roasts and yorkshires have to be re-heated in a very hot oven or you buy frozen roasts for this.

chilli con carne or spagetthi is easy to re-heat and make rice or pasta to go with it - or leave in slow cooker for later to keep warm

Veg can be cooked and put in the fridge so that all you need to do is microwave it when you get home. Salads can be made up and put in the fridge too.

Is slow cooked stuff an option? Although getting into summer that's less attractive, but you could replace it with substantial salads.

Can you and your DD eat a 'proper' lunch so you can both have a snack-type supper, and your DH do the same? Or you and DP wait until you come home from work to eat? DH and I often don't eat until quite late as he's rarely home before 7pm -and even when he is I haven't prepared anything - and there are plenty of quick yet substantial meals.

Does he cook?

He could have a snack when he gets in, and eat dinner with you when you get home.
