AIBU?

lazy fucking typos

AIBU to be irritated by posters who make numerous typos and then have the audacity to apologise and say things like "oooooh I am so cross at this my spelling and grammar has gone by the board".
For fucks sake proof read prior to posting. It isn't that difficult.

Getorfmoiland. Am now chilled. Drinking large G&T. And toasting the end to proof read posts. Long may they be littered with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

Geepers, I was pretty new at the time, and had noticed other people correcting typos (and I notice I put type instead of typo up there), so I thought it was the done thing. I've since learned otherwise.

sorry OP that q really did sneak in there

I didn't do it on purpose

SpringHeeledJack · 12/12/2010 17:33

hehehe

they should change tqagline "by parents for parents" to "online bibble babble"

I want the poster upthread who referred to the pedantic horse board to come back and tell us more

I find the correction of the typos way, way more irritating than the actual typo. 99 times out of 100 i don't notice the typo in the OP, but when the poster comes back to correct herself i ALWAYS have to go back and re-read something i read correctly the first time.

This first time I apologised for making a type, scottishmummy pulled me up on it. Now I don't care. But I do agree with the acronym thing - some of them are just undecipherable.

Sometimes the thread is moving fast and if you stop to proof read your post, the thread moves on making your post irrelivant.

Plus it's one of those things in life that doesn't matter!

Caron. It's a joke. Chill out.

As a confirmed pedant, it pains me whenever I make a mistake - but I don't preview my posts because life is a bit too short for that Grin

Oh, and whilst we're doing the PA bit, it's pedant, not pendant. I thank you. Smile

Caron, you're a brave man! Xmas Grin
I rarely proof-read before pressing post, but I do proof as I go along. Sometimes miss things when in full flow though.

Getorfmoiland. Thank you for calling me a wanker for the name. The spelling is in fact Caron which is of welsh origin. So feel free to abuse me for typos, bad spelling, inaccurate viewpoints, pathetic postings etc but give me a break where a name is concerned. Thank you

I keep getting auto corrected but my spelling is terrible so I am not sure which is worse.

But if you are going to start thread about spelling you really do need to be sure before you post message.

Prodding the pedants with a big stick isn't a good idea.

I was anticipating a thread regarding typographical errors induced by idle fornication.

I feel somewhat shortchanged. Xmas Grin

I hate it if I spot a typo just as I press 'post message'. It brings me out in a cold sweat and I sit there with my finger depressed - knowing I can't stop the inevitable, but somehow hoping that if I keep my finger there long enough I can turn back time!

We are getting a whole new class of typos now anyway, because of the iphone's autocorrect.

My favourites I've seen so far on MN are 'Benoit' for 'he put' and 'maids' for NSPCC.
