Pregnant with dc 2 - any advice?

Hi all,

I am pregnant with dc 2 - dd is allergic to milk, eggs and nuts. Midwife has told me to avoid nuts due to this but I am not sure that this is the correct advice?

Does anyone know anything about this?

I know there is a good chance that dc2 will have allergies but wondered if there is any research into whether or not I should be eating nuts and other allergens?

Thanks in advance Grin

Thanks for your replies. I think I will give my allergy consultant a call and see what she says.

I'd probably find it hard to eat nuts too - I'm so paranoid about eating them and then kissing or touching dd bit I'd be more than happy to have a snickers on my lunch break at work occasionally Wink

Thanks for the advice Grin

Dd1 has egg, nut and sesame allergies and I was told to eat nuts while pregnant with dd2 so I'd definitely double check advice with your allergy team. I didn't manage to eat very much as so out of the habit of having nuts etc around. We're a very allergy ridden family - lots of excema and asthma and food allergies but Dd2 -touch wood - has nothing

I really don't know but you could try your arm at emailing the LEAP Study Doctors as they are primarily looking at linked allergies .. I think?

I think it's under the care of Dr Gideon Lack at Guys & St Thomas'? Or, if you start a new thread calling for others on this forum about the LeAP study I'm sure some people had / have kids taking part? They may be able to point you in the right direction?

Congratulations! Not medical research, but your post put me in mind of this blog, which you may find interesting.
