Private tuition as a university academic

Anyone set up their own private tutoring business on the side? Hold a part time university contract as a lecturer so work would be in my own time, in my own discipline ideally and clearly not for students at the same uni. Can teach level 4-7 and would strictly not fall into essay mill territory.
Would this work? Any helpful comments or guidance welcome. Am I mad and deluded? Smile

What subject? I would have thought it would be great for college students hoping to boost their grades for uni entry

No only really interested in teaching level 4-7 (university level). Healthcare related subjects.

Why would students (not generally an affluent group) pay you when they can seek advice from their own personal tutors/lecturers?

TallulahMazda · 10/12/2022 12:42

Fair point and definitely a consideration.

I did UG and PG tutoring online through an agency while I was part time. There's definitely demand out there - but I think I'd have struggled to get clients on my own.

Thank you I'll have a look into the agency options too.
