Would you clean the bl00dy Scout hut?

Sort of an AIBU… My son is in a Scout group and the leaders have asked the parents to clean the hut every Saturday morning. They say each family should need to volunteer only once a year (but you can bet many won’t volunteer at all so we’ll end up being nagged to do more than that) They say this is to save the money they spend on a cleaner and that they rather put it towards other activities. I’ve calculated that it works out at about £10 per Beaver/Cub/Scout per term to cover the cleaner’s costs and honestly I’d rather pay double that not to have to do it! Our Saturday mornings are already a massive juggle as we have one car and kids with activities in two places at the same time (plus hubby coaching one of their sports teams). There’s a fair chance I will have to spend money on getting a taxi back to the Scout hut so I can have the pleasure of cleaning it, then a taxi back to my daughter’s activity so I can wait with her until hubby can come and pick us up. I already do *loads* of volunteering - I help run my daughter’s Rainbows unit, I’m a regular blood donor (33 pints, plus 20 pints of breast milk back in the day!), I volunteer at every single PTA organised event at school (and have been class rep twice), I sit on a GP patient committee, I do pro bono advice work (partly through work but partly in my own time), I sit on a charity committee - I am not someone who leaves it to others or doesn’t pull my weight! But honestly I feel really narked to have this imposed on us when I’m sure most parents would prefer just to keep paying the cleaner. We live in a fairly well off area and even with COL I’m pretty sure most people could afford it and afford a bit extra to put in an access fund if needed. I don’t understand why we weren’t asked about it, it could have been put to a vote. And they’re not even saying if we don’t do this they will have to up the subs, they want to save the money to spend on activities. Anyway I was wondering if anyone else has to clean their Scout/ Guide hut in this way, maybe I’m just out of touch and it’s perfectly normal and reasonable?!
