Dh has an early start so he went to bed early, but he knows I need to listen to the radio to get to sleep. So my wireless headphones are charged and by the side of my bed. Win win.

Always makes me tea/coffee/a smoothie
Lets me sleep in and does chores while I do (not every time, but often)
Cooks a lot and makes sure I eat well
He leaves early for work while I'm WFH at the moment so I'm often just sleepily waking up as he is about to leave. Just before he leaves he always sits next to me and kisses me on the forehead and belly (I'm pregnant atm)
Always does the bins without moaning
Always holds my hand on walks

@TheChosenTwo he was really special, just a wonderful human.

Lots of little things to protect me, such as if we go for a walk (rural so no pavements) he always walks so I’m nearest the grass verge and he’s nearest the passing cars, like I’m some unruly toddler (he know me well! Grin) It does make me chuckle because I’m actually a very independent sort who went travelling abroad for a year in my 20s. But it’s lovely.

Will always give me his last slice of pizza, chocolate, everything.

Tells me I'm beautiful when I'm minging with no make up in pajamas with ketchup stain on the front.

Looks after me when I'm sick.

Loves and smothers my dog (that he didn't want) with kisses and affection.

He's amazing when I'm poorly. When I was pregnant I was really unwell and spent lots of time in hospital. He would work all day then drive 20 odd miles to the hospital and stay until he was kicked out. When I was really weak he would help me in and out of the bath and wash my hair for me. When I was recovering at home he even ate his meals in the car because food smells made me sick!

Now I'm crying!

@AndNoneForGretchenWieners that’s so heartbreaking, that last story.
Sounds like he was a thoroughly lovely man and your ds had had a great role model Flowers

Brings me tea in bed on the weekends. Buys me flowers to make me smile. Always makes me laugh. Runs me a hot bath.

Makes me a morning coffee everyday.
Warms the car up on cold mornings.
Enjoys gardening and grows lots of herbs for me as he knows I love them.
Talks to our dog like she's a little baby telling her how lovely she is.
Makes me laugh when he puts washing away as he jokes he's enjoyed a rummage in my knicker drawer.

My late DH was such a lovely man. Examples that made me melt:

Holding my hand when we walked
Treating me to 'something nice' if he went to the shop (DS has picked this habit up and does it now 😍)
Cups of tea all the time, even if we had had a (very rare) argument and were still annoyed with each other, he would hand me a cuppa and let me continue to stew (could never stay angry with each other for long though, we always ended up laughing)
Meeting me at the station - he would park the car then come into the concourse and wait for me so as I came across the bridge from the platform I would see him waiting

The last one hit me really hard when he died. The first day I had to do the commute and get an uber to the station instead of a lift from him that was hard enough, but I still looked for him from the bridge out of habit and of course he wasn't there.

Lovely thread OP, my DH is wonderful and very caring and I have chosen my fav sweet things he does:

-Gives me a back rub/massage on the nights where DDs have run me ragged all day and I am a bit stressed- sets it all up like a spa with candles, ambient music etc and random easy conversation
-Turns the shower on and lays out my towel on the radiator so I can be super warm in the bathroom before and after i get in the shower
-Sets up a corner of the living room when I want a magazine and book binge in peace with a glass of wine, blanket, snacks
-Texts my mum independently of me to talk about football (mums a widow and Dad was a big footy fan), London stuff (Dh from London, mums fav city), and to shoot the breeze about our DDs, me and just general chit chat. Smile

(It's an adult now and fine although with a bent tail).

Works really hard
Has the cutest chuckling laugh when something on tv really tickles him
Sends me cute and funny pictures/memes when he sees one he thinks I will like
Cooks AND clears up almost every night
Loves our animals and holds long conversations with them
Always says I am beautiful and sexy even when I look like the back of a bus
Brings me flowers when I don’t expect it
Does loads of jobs for my mum, who adores him
Makes me laugh every day
Makes phone calls for me if I can’t face it.

He’s just the best. I’d be lost without him.

There's loads that DP does that makes me smile, but the one thing that gets me everytime is when he smiles at me.

He has the most amazingly beautiful smile I have ever seen and it is so infectious I cant help but smile back at him (even when im in a mood)

Brings me coffee in the morning
Random silly dances
Thinks ahead - e.g. i needed to call docs at 8am this morning, i was still sleeping so he called at 8am and then handed over the phone when it was time to talk to the recptionist
Playing with our kids
Gazing and holding our kids
Hes an ameteur carpenter and has made some really handy stuff around the house - recent make was a thumb book holder open thingy-me-jig
Although he can over complicate things - his ideas and execution of said ideas tend to be bloody brilliant!
I love his hair, his arms, his hands, his eyes
I love when hes doing any type of diy really, im a sucker for him straddling the carpenter horse thing and sanding a piece of wood 🤣🤣🤣
'The look' he gives just me
His laugh, his really hearty laugh when something has really got to him (i especially like it if 'i' make him laugh)
He hums and sways a little when hes really enjoying his food
His beard, god his beard it bloody lush

I could actually go on really.

DH is an early riser but I categorically am not. Instead of me setting an alarm for myself he comes to wake me up by climbing back into bed for a cuddle - whether that's 7am or 9am.

He's taught me to cook. I could barely follow a recipe before I met him but he has patiently and lovingly taught me absolutely everything with no judgement whatsoever. The biggest compliment he has ever given me is when he said "this is so delicious I forget which one of us made this!" (And he's a professional chef)

We have kitchen discos and he does the most ridiculous dance moves to make me laugh.

He indulges my ridiculous quirks.

I love these threads. Always so many bad threads it's so nice to read the good in our partners. My lovely partner always brings me a coffee in bed on my lie in days (we take turns), doesn't have to be nagged about jobs, empties the dishwasher because he knows I hate doing it! Buys great, thoughtful gifts, is a gentleman in ways of holding doors open, compliments etc. He's just a great man really

My DH is the most lovely, caring, giving person I know. He makes me fresh ground slow drip coffee in the morning, while I take my wake up walk. He kisses me when I pass him, lightly but oh, those lips. He puts one hand on my knee when he's driving. He makes me swoon by lightly sniffing my neck. Ah.

He's an amazing cook, and rarely let's me in the kitchen. He's also really easy on the eyes.

40 years and he still does it for me. I got very lucky.

Some lovely things here.
I guess what we're saying is that we want our partners (male or female) to think about us and be considerate and that makes us happy.
